Seven arrested Wednesday in round 2 of Operation Double Trouble

Law enforcement officers from across Southern Indiana participated in a second arrest raid this morning that resulted in the incarceration of seven suspects who were being sought on drug dealing charges.

Officers with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, Jasper Police Department, and Huntingburg Police Department assisted in the executing the arrest warrants.
As was previously reported, on June 4, 2015, officers began serving arrest warrants on subjects for drug dealing charges stemming from an investigation known as Operation Double Trouble; 10 individuals were incarcerated in the Dubois County Security Center as a result of arrests made during round one of the operation.
One warrant issued out of Spencer County remains outstanding at this time.

Wednesday morning, officers served seven arrest warrants as part of round two of the operation. Although the name Operation was Double Trouble was chosen back in June 2014 when Narcotics Officer John Anderson and Chief Deputy Prosecutor Beth Sermersheim began the investigation, it ended up being a fitting choice given that the warrants were served in two rounds.
This approach differs from the one taken with Operation Big Brother, the first operation undertaken by Anderson and Sermersheim, because 16 arrest warrants were served at one time with Operation Big Brother. Operation Double Trouble was conducted in two rounds at the request of Sheriff Donny Lampert, in order to ease the burden on the Sheriff’s Department and on the Dubois County Security Center when the inmates are brought to the jail.
According to Lampert, he believes that two rounds helped to ensure the safety of the community and officers
by limiting the number of high risk arrests taking place at one time. He also believes that two rounds minimized the costs associated with the arrests by allowing the justice system to absorb the arrests over a period of time.
According to Sermersheim, conducting two rounds of arrests rather than one large round-up involved more extensive logistical planning due to the coordination of a significant number of officers on two separate dates.
Sermersheim attributed the smoothness of both rounds to the efforts of Detective Sergeant Tom Kleinhelter. Kleinhelter completed much of the behind-the-scenes planning in both Operation Big Brother and Operation Double Trouble in order to ensure the safe and successful execution of the arrest warrants.
Sermersheim stated that the efforts and cooperation of many people are required to complete large-scale operations of this kind. Operation Double Trouble included undercover drug buys of methamphetamine, heroin, MDMA, and Schedule II, III and IV controlled substances.
Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Quinn commended both Narcotics Officer Anderson and Chief Deputy Prosecutor Sermersheim for their hard work and dedication not only in this investigation, but also in the work they continue to do on a daily basis. Quinn stated that the abuse and illegal distribution of controlled substances continues to be a problem in Dubois County.
The Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office will continue to stringently enforce all Indiana dealing statutes, while at the same time looking for ways to promote rehabilitation and reduce recidivism in our community.
Thus far, the seven individuals facing charges as part of round two of Operation Double Trouble include:

Michael L. Bryant, Jr., 38, of Huntingburg: one Level 2 felony count of dealing in a narcotic drug (Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone); and a Level 4 felony count of dealing in a Schedule III Controlled Substance (Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone).

Andrew J. Dodd, 50, of Huntingburg: one Class A felony count of dealing in a Schedule III Controlled Substance (Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone); a Level 2 felony count of dealing in a Schedule III Controlled Substance (Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone); and one count of Habitual Substance Offender
Enhancement.

Trell D. Ferguson, 41, of Huntingburg: a Level 5 felony count of dealing in a Schedule IV Controlled Substance.

Joni N. Goldman, 37, of Huntingburg: a Level 2 felony count of dealing in a narcotic drug (Methadone); and a Level 3 felony count of dealing in a narcotic drug (Methadone).

Adrienne L. Holmes, 31, of Huntingburg: a Level 5 felony count of dealing in methamphetamine.

Shannon “Dean” Tredway, 45, of Huntingburg: A Level 4 felony count of dealing in a narcotic drug (Heroin); and a class A misdemeanor charge of dealing in paraphernalia.

Cary K. Trusty, 68, of Huntingburg: a Level 3 felony count of dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine); and a Level 3 felony count of dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine).
In total, felony drug dealing charges against 20 individuals were obtained as part of Operation Double Trouble. However, only 19 warrants were secured, due to one individual passing away before the Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office applied for the warrants.
Here is the story on the first phase of the operation. And here are two more stories: Traffic stop nets ninth Operation Double Trouble arrest and Another arrest made connected to Operation Double Trouble.

I sincerely thank you for spending our tax dollars on real drugs offenses instead of wasted prescious resources on marijuana arrest. Marijuana is no more or less of a “gateway” drug than alchohol, nicotine, caffeine and sugar.
Thank you for your service!
