Dog display on cross reported stolen
Deputies are asking for the public’s assistance in locating items taken from a stone cross located on a property south of Birdseye.
Deputies were called to 8042 S. State Road 145 on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. for the report of the theft of two orange straps, a tow strap, a military-style sleeping bag and a bale of hay from the stone cross.
On Sunday, Feb. 28, deputies were called to the property adjacent to the Anderson Valley Christian Church for the report of gunfire and explosions. When they arrived, the individuals living at the property had attached the family’s deceased pet to the stone cross facing the church. Story here.
According to police, the deceased dog originally attached to the cross was removed shortly after it was put up and replaced with the wrapped sleeping bag and hay bale. Those pieces and the straps holding it to the cross were all removed by unknown individuals.
The items are reported to be valued at about $165.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department at 812-482-3522. All calls can remain confidential.

Lots of rage here. Angry. Mad. Hate. Fred Rogers would not approve.
