I surrender! I now concede that the expert’s predictions should entirely govern our lives, economy, and education, because:
The Ohio Governor tested Positive last week and the next day-Negative;
The Delaware County Health Department, in answering a question yesterday, posted on Facebook(so it must be true):
“I think there is some confusion about quarantine after exposure to a COVID+ classmate. If you are notified that it has been determined that your child has been identified as a “close contact” of a COVID+ student then your child must quarantine for 14 days. If you choose to have your child tested and the test is negative, he still needs to quarantine for the 14 days. About 40% of the tests are FALSE NEGATIVE…..this means that your child is really positive but tests negative.”
Clears it up for me. Got to go. I need to look at some polling data with a margin of error of +or– 40%
According to the health department, a person can have the novel coronavirus in their body and test negative until the viral load becomes large enough for the DNA to be detected through the testing procedure. That is why the health department is urging any close contact to a positive case to still quarantine for 14 days even if they test negative.
In regards to the Ohio governor, he was administered two different tests. One test is an antigen test and the other tests for the novel coronavirus DNA. He tested positive with an antigen test which is not an accurate indicator of the presence of the virus in a person’s body whereas the DNA test is.
Which testing is being used locally? Antigen or DNA?
DNA

—Molecular tests (also called PCR tests, viral RNA tests, nucleic acid tests)
What about accuracy? False negatives — that is, a test that says you don’t have the virus when you actually do have the virus — may occur. The reported rate of false negatives is as low as 2% and as high as 37%. The reported rate of false positives — that is, a test that says you have the virus when you actually do not — is 5% or lower.
—-Antigen tests
What about accuracy? The reported rate of false negative results is as high as 50%, which is why antigen tests are not favored by the FDA as a single test for active infection. However, because antigen testing is quicker, less expensive, and requires less complex technology to perform than molecular testing, some experts recommend repeated antigen testing as a reasonable strategy. According to one test manufacturer, the false positive rate of antigen testing is near zero.
You, I am sure, have more information than I:
1. How many of each of the two tests comprise the County’s total Positives;
2. How many County and State deaths of people who die with the Covid-19 Virus are NOT classified as Covid-19 deaths?
Thanks for the information.
We need far more healthy hypochondriacs in Dubois County to be lining up to be tested.
If we had line upon line of cars waiting to be tested as is being done in other parts of the
country our “positivity rate” would decline dramatically. The lowest “positivity rate” for the
county to date just happened to coincide with the date with the largest number of tests were
administered. The metric is just another example that statistics lie and liars use statistics.

Excellent, Boz. We knew you’d come around eventually.
All I can say is putting these kids at risk is crap. They get it then bring it home. And spread it. And football is not safe you cant do sports safe. Not even band. It’s all about funding if they dont go. Alot of pro football decided to call off wise decision. We need a smarter governor ……………! People have enough to worry about now they have to sit back and wait for there children to get sick and pass it along. They say it’s only going to get worse so all go virtual learning.
