Victims in Salem slaying identified

Indiana State Police have released the names and causes of death of the three victims in the triple homicide that occurred Sunday near Salem.

Autopsies were completed on the three victims identified as 58-year-old Danny G. Newlin, 42-year-old Kelley Kay Newlin and 14-year-old Austin Newlin, all of5582 South Beck’s Mill Road, Salem. All three died from gunshot wounds. The three were father, mother and son.

Danny and Austin suffered multiple gunshot wounds and Kelley a single gunshot wound, according to police.

The suspected killer, Richard Lee Burton Jr., was found dead in Monroe County after state police issued a request for information on his whereabouts in relation to the investigation.
