Two more cases identified as new testing site prepares to open Wednesday
Tuesday, the Dubois County Health Department announced two more confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Dubois County bringing the total of cases to 27.
“We are working closely with Indiana State Department of Health and local officials to ensure that contacts of the patients are identified and monitored,” the department stated in a press release. “Anyone who may have an exposure risk, has been or is being notified about potential exposures so that appropriate infection control procedures can be followed.”
The patients are in isolation.
The health department also announced the testing site at the National Guard Armory will open Wednesday. The site is being operated through a partnership with OptumServe Health Services as part of the state’s plan to expand Covid-19 testing in Indiana.
Testing at the site is by appointment only. Register at https://lhi.care/covidtesting or by phone at 888-634-1123.
Individuals MUST be symptomatic, be a close contact of a positive case, or a symptomatic resident of congregate living settings to be eligible for testing. You will go to the portal and self-report your symptoms using the online screening tool. If you qualify, an option will appear to register for an appointment date and time.
There is NO charge for testing. However, if you do have private health care insurance, you are asked to bring that to the testing site.
People can expect to get the results within 48 hours. Optum will send a text or email to the patient if the test is negative. A phone call will be given if there is a positive test results.
Dubois County Health Department will not be involved with the direct operations of OptumServe’s clinics. Dubois County Health Department will receive the positive cases results of Dubois County residents and will continue to work with the ISDH and local officials to ensure that contacts of the patients are identified and monitored.
Continue to practice physical distancing, perform good hygiene, and wear a cloth face covering in public when around others. #BackOnTrack #InThisTogether

And why can’t you say what places they’ve been too? HIPPA only keeps from saying names and information of their health but you still can at least let the public know if they may have been to say Walmart or Grocery on certain days and without the name attached
I agree with you. I’ve said the same thing. It would also be nice to know if any have recovered from the virus. They would tell us if anyone had died from it.
On May 5th the WBDC news at noon reported that Dubois County had 27 cases of COVID-19. They also said 70% of them have recovered. Which means 19 have recovered and 8 are still in isolation.
The Dubois County Health Department & Memorial Hospital are required to report ALL COVID-19 deaths to the ISDH. Trust them to keep everyone informed and updated.
I disagree! We’re not in this together. If we were everyone would be wearing a face mask.
If the information were released that a patient with COVID-19 had been at Walmart last Wednesday it would create a public panic.
Is Indiana really back on track? Testing for the virus has been nearly impossible to get. Even with a testing site opening in our area you still must be more than symptomatic to be tested. You MUST be a close contact of a positive case, or a symptomatic resident of congregate living settings to be tested.
By keeping this criteria the number of test could be low.
People are walking around with the virus and they’re not wearing mask!
I ask again, is Indiana really back on track? To keep Indiana back on track, please wear a mask!
