Southern Indiana Leathernecks make $1,000 donation and issue challenge

Chris Fleck, (right) Commandant of Southern Indiana Leatherneck Detachment #931, The Marine Corps League, presented a check for $1,000.00 to Pat O’Keefe who serves as the Fundraising Chair for Honor Flight Southern Indiana.

The Southern Indiana Leathernecks donated $1,000 to Honor Flight of Southern Indiana.

Honor Flight flies veterans and their escorts to Washington D.C. to see all their memorials. The group represents the 13 southern counties south of Bloomington and has completed six flights. A seventh is scheduled for October 21, 2017.

All expenses are paid for the veterans and more than fifty veterans from Dubois and immediate surrounding counties have participated thus far.

They are currently taking applications from veterans from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

The Southern Indiana Leathernecks also issued a challenge to other organizations and corporations to match or exceed their monetary donation for this cause.
