Wednesday evening, Jim Siebert will be honored by the Lincoln Heritage District Boy Scouts with the Distinguished Citizens Award.

We wrote a story about Jim and Jane last in June of 2017. Here is that story.

Siebert’s: Love, family, community and legacy

Jim is the third generation owner of Siebert’s clothing stores. Born to Josie and Bob Siebert in 1952, Jim married Jane Rowekamp in 1974. They have four children; Andy Ben, Jeff and Rachel as well as three grandsons. Jim also has six siblings; Sandy, Mike, John, Mark, Joe and Ann and 7 nieces and nephews.

While attending Jasper High School, Jim was active in student government as the class president in 1969 and 1970. He was selected for the National Honor Society and in 1969 he was a Hoosier Boy State delegate. In 1970, Jim received the Jasper Civitan clubs “Good Citizen” award.

After graduation from Jasper High School, Jim matriculated to Indiana University at Bloomington where he was an active member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and in 1974 he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing.

Despite having a number of other opportunities open to him, upon graduation, Jim chose to join his father Bob Siebert, in the Family business, then known as The Modern. Like his father, Jim made commitments early in his career to family, the family business and to his community.

Jim earned the Eagle Scout Award in 1969 and has been active in scouting throughout his life. He was an Explorer Scout Troop Leader, Lincoln Trail District Chairman, Buffalo Trace Council Executive Committee and a long-standing member of the Distinguished Citizens Award steering Committee and Chairman of the “Friends of Scouting” fund drive committee.

Jim’s contributions to his community have not been exclusive to Scouting. He has been a Junior Achievement Board member and Advisor, Charter member of the Redevelop Old Jasper Action Committee, a member of the Jasper Jaycees, Knights of Columbus, a member of Jasper Moose Lodge and a Charter Member of both the Jasper Optimists club and the Dubois County Sportsman Club. Jim has also served as President of both the Jasper Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Jasper Downtown Business Association. Jim has been Chairman of the Memorial Hospital Gala Committee, a member of the Dubois County Community Foundation Endowment Development Committee and has been an active participant in the ERFENDIN study group. Jim has also served on the Holy Family School board and has contributed to and participated on the Holy Family CHIRP committee.

His contributions to his peers in the business world include a term as President of the Menswear Retailers of Indiana trade association and as a Board Member of the Northwest buyers group. Jim has participated in menswear conferences at Notre Dame University and Tulane University He was also a Board member of the Holland National Bank during its later years.

In his “spare time” Jim enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and being outdoors.

The keynote speaker this evening will be Luke Zeller.

  1. Lots of nice words here but failed to mention Jim is also one of the finest gentlemen you’ll ever meet.

  2. Since I have retired I don see you as often. When I was still in business you used to get my Tux ready for the annual Green Briar Fertilizer meeting as you dress me well for other occasions. You alway had a smile and acted in a very professional way. Now that I am retired it’s just ole Jeans & shorts. They last forever. Thanks for everything you did for our family.
