Celestine — Servando Escobedo, 24, of 3828 N. Portersville Road, was arrested for allegedly raping a woman early Friday morning.

According to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, two women were driving along Celestine Road North when they had a flat tire at about 1 a.m. They began walking to find assistance when a pickup truck pulling a turkey-loading trailer stopped to assist them.

The women stated Escobedo and three other men got out of the truck to help but while the three other men were changing the tire, Escobedo took one of the women behind the trailer and sexually assaulted her. Afterwards the men left and the women were able to drive away and report the assault to police.

According to Detective Tom Kleinhelter with the sheriff’s department, the women described the truck as well as the clothing the men were wearing and based on that information, they were able to identify and find the men at a Celesting turkey farm.

Police questioned all four men and then arrested Escobedo for Class B felony rape and a misdemeanor count of possessing false government identification. He was booked into the Dubois County Security Center.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is also interested in questioning Escobedo.

  1. Will bond out and vanish. Strange that you do not hear about ICE not being called more often around here.

  2. I’m sure there is more to this story but from this article it doesn’t sound right. A total of six people at the scene and a sexual assault took place while the others fixed a flat?
Seems like some details are missing. Hopefully a trial will answer the questions.
