Santa Claus man arrested for child molesting

Spencer County – A Santa Claus man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for Child Molesting and Child Solicitation.

Detectives from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division initiated an investigation yesterday after receiving information from the Dubois County Child Protection Services that Karl B. Rustin, 56, Santa Claus allegedly molested two young girls ages 11 and 13.

Preliminary investigation revealed that for approximately one year Rustin molested the two girls on several occasions in Spencer County.

He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Spencer County Jail where he was booked preliminarily on two counts each of Child Molestation (Class A Felony) and Child Solicitation a (Class D Felony).

Investigating Officers: Trooper Detective Shane Staggs and Master Trooper Detective Rob Gardner.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
