Ruth V. Braun, 94, Jasper

Ruth V. Braun, 94, of Jasper, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.
She was born November 26, 1923, at Lost River Township, Martin County to Merlin and Elsie (Cooper) Wininger. She married Curtis C. Braun on July 1, 1945. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1987.
Ruth was a homemaker and an active member of the Central Christian Church in Huntingburg. Where she taught Sunday school for 47 years and was a member of the church choir for many years. She shared her musical talents for many years at area nursing homes. She enjoyed daily crossword puzzles, gardening, bird watching and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (R.J. Pete) Sermersheim of Jasper; son, Douglas (Jane) Braun of Jasper; four grandchildren, Libby Sermersheim of Indianapolis, Katie (Sean) Sreniawski of Indianapolis, Audra (Jamie) Levy of Jasper and Jill (Keith) Haas of Lexington, Ky.; eight great-grandchildren Grant, Hannah, Joel, Sylvia, Jake, Anna, Olivia and Nora; three sisters, Rose Bauernfiend of Shoals, Eldean (Gene) Sherfick of Shoals and Pat Underwood of Huntingburg.
Preceded in death; one sister, Joyce Trambaugh and two brothers; Woodrow Wininger and Merlin Wininger Jr.
Funeral services for Ruth Braun will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. Craig Taylor will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Christian Church or to a favorite charity.

So sorry about the passing of Ruth. Did not know of her passing until 10:30 this morning, so was unable to attend the funeral. Ruth was a great lady!
