Ruckriegels presented with Key to the City

Robert and Lovella Ruckriegel were presented a key to the City of Jasper by Mayor Terry Seitz on Thursday, May 18, on the grounds of the Northwood Retirement Community. The
The Ruckriegels were instrumental in the establishment of the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Jasper. According to Mayor Terry Seitz, he contacted the Ruckriegels several weeks ago to speak to them about the presentation.
According to Bob, he was surprised by the gesture from the mayor and honored to receive a key.
In 1967, Bob served as the president of the campaign committee in a successful effort to raise $100,000 for a 72-bed nursing facility and served on the Board of Directors through 2016. They were both recently named the Northwood Retirement Community Volunteers of the Year.
According to Mr. Ruckriegel, he considers his involvement with establishing Good Samaritan as one of his proudest accomplishments.
Bob and Lovella are also founders of SERVUS! and remain actively involved in the business they started in 1964. SERVUS! currently operates 148 Long John Silver’s, Denny’s, Grandy’s, and Wendy’s restaurants, McAlister’s Deli in Bedford, and the Jasper 8 Cinema, along with numerous real estate holdings.
Their sons, Al and Sid, and several members of their office staff and the staff at Good Samaritan were on hand for the event.
