Jeffrey L. Bounds of Huntingburg, was selected to fill the vacancy in the Huntingburg City Council created by the resignation of Alex Blackgrove.
A Caucus of eligible Republican Precinct Committeepersons was held on Wednesday, September 30th in the Cool Beans Java Café.
Mr. Blackgrove moved out of the council district and his resignation was effective September 8, 2015.
Jeff Bounds was nominated to be the Republican candidate for Huntingburg City Council, Second District, at the May Republican Primary. He is unopposed in the November Municipal Election. He currently serves on the Patoka Township Advisory Board and is a member of the Huntingburg Economic Development Commission.
Bounds is a volunteer at the Teen Outback Youth Center and has had various leadership roles with booster organizations at Southridge High School. He was actively involved with the “Yes for Southridge” referendum campaign that resulted in needed renovations at Southridge High School in 2012.
A life-long resident of Huntingburg, Bounds has been married to his wife DeAnna for 28 years. The couple has two daughters, Kaitlyn, 25, and Allison, 20. One of seven siblings, he is the son of the late Jim and Mary Rose Bounds of Huntingburg. He has been a self-employed investment advisor with Primerica Financial Services at the same location in Huntingburg for the past 31 years.
“I’ve had several opportunities to move, and even had satellite offices in Indianapolis and Evansville over the years but my Huntingburg roots have kept me here. There’s a strong sense of community in Huntingburg and that’s important to me. We raised our family here and plan to retire here.”
Mr. Bounds will serve the remainder of Mr. Blackgrove’s term which ends December 31, 2015.

Now it can be said that Huntingburg is indeed growing by leaps and “Bounds.” Congrats, Jeff.
