Police seeking vandalism suspects
The Jasper Police Department is asking for the public’s help as officers investigate recent vandalism to the Hometown IGA and Walmart Supercenter that occurred overnight.
Since last Thursday evening, several acts of vandalism related to violence against people of color have been found around the city. Messages associated with the nationwide protests as well as the names of victims have been spray-painted on buildings, benches, signs and sidewalks.
In addition to vandalism at the Walmart and IGA, graffiti was found at the 15th Street entrance to the Riverwalk last week and additional graffiti was found near the Third Avenue bridge this morning.
Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to call Jasper police at 812-482-2255 or the department’s anonymous tip line at 812-481-2677 (COPS).
The Bible commandment You shall not kill. This was wrong , it is being dealt with in the judicial system now. The Bible commandment You shall not steal. Taking another’s property, taking ones job away due to loss of the building they worked in, taking away their income to buy food for their family, rent and house payment, is now happening. Violence and looting is wrong, a generation is lost without a moral compass to see God. Peaceful protests yes, yes, but to put lives in more danger, including those who do right in protecting us in our communities, is wrong. this is my opinion. one voice here

I wonder how many of those “peaceful” protesters from Saturday were involved in this vandalism? The problem with these self loathing people who are ashamed of their “white privilege” is that they are supporting a movement which won’t be there standing up for them when the shoe is on the other foot. Many are just useful idiots for that movement.
While I support the idea that Black lives matter, I also feel Asian lives matter, Hispanic lives matter and yes, white lives matter too. In my view, it’s racist to be exclusive of others lives mattering but nobody is allowed to say that, everyone is too scared that they will be labeled racist. And, I believe that George Floyd was murdered by that cop. Unfortunately there are too many of those kinds of cops all over the country. But, I don’t believe that racism had anything to do with that killing, I think he would have killed anyone who crossed him at that point.
Good point! White Privilege is a hoax. I grew up with seven siblings and what we had wasn’t privilege but poverty. I did what so many before me did. I got a education a job paid my way, raise my family and now I live comfortably. Anyone can do it if they are not afraid to work. Thus saith the Lord, He who will not work shall not eat!
So wrong in so many ways.

Amen to both Tom and Me@home. My one differing opinion is with Me on the murder of Floyd – would say indeed it was racially motivated, and such a shame. While have been too many like this of late by a few bad-apple police – bad apples exist in all occupations – those in/of the police barrel are still a very small percentage of the whole lot – most all – of very good ones, the vast majority. Not/never be a perfect world but things will improve with this.
So bad apples in the police but all of One-Dubois are vandals…. That makes sense. Only if you have your eyes shut to the real problem. How many riots happened without police brutality?

I’m tired of hearing about white privilege. It’s an American privilege to be able to stand up for what you believe. My family, your family came here for the American privilege. Until we rid our country of the terminology, we cannot rid racism.
Well… Your missing one point. Some people didn’t come here on their own. They were brought here and made to work for free. The farmers then got filthy rich on free labor. When the slaves were set free they were left with nothing but the farmers still had all their money. Just ask Mitch McConnell. Also notice how I’m not scared to show my full name..
