Police break truck window to assist driver

Jasper officers were forced to break a window to assist a driver involved in a medical emergency Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Division Road and Kuper Lane involving a 2012 GMC pickup truck. The driver was having a medical issue related to diabetes and was unable to remove his foot from the accelerator with the truck still in gear.

Officers broke a window to be able to access the truck and get it out of gear.

Damages to the truck were estimated to be between $2,500 and $5,000.
