Perspective: Tax break temporary crumbs for middle class
The U.S. Congress, with the President’s endorsement, has handed over a massive tax break to corporations and individuals who don’t need it. Temporary crumbs are being allocated to the middle class for window dressing, but no one seems to care that these acts are trapping our grandchildren, and maybe even our great-grandchildren, in massive debt for their lifetimes.
What happened to the party of fiscal responsibility and individual accountability?

We have to start doing something to bring our jobs back to the United States and create more jobs. At the rate we were going our kids won’t have any future because robots and foreign countries will have all of our jobs. If Trump can bring back our jobs and create many new jobs and also put a little more money in peoples pockets at the same time, then more power to him.
Amen, Nick. And shame on Nancy, Anne and those of similar, “crumby” minds-set…what an absolute illogical, inaccurate and common-senseless “perspective.” Like, the massive debt built up over generations of massive, out-of-control spending and creation of the massive welfare boondoggle by the dems and their liberal philosophies would be any different if not for this tax break?
I don’t think their crumbs. Americans need a break to catch up. Corporations taxed more than any in the world. How did this happen? How can they compete? Sure, all of this may have to be paid back. America can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results. Logic.
Anne,
You are correct. And don’t let anyone who would be satisfied with crumbs or who depends on the altruism of corporations and the rich disabuse you of that notion.

Anne in all of the opinion pieces you have written, not once did you complain about the budget deficits put up by President Barack Obama. No other president has added more to the national debt then President Obama. His national debt total eclipsed all other presidents combined.

Your grandchildren and great grandchildren will be paying on that debt long after your gone.
Liberal hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me. You and Scott keep drinking that kool-aid and I’ll enjoy my crumbs.

The jobs humans do are going away and replaced by robots. If you are driving a truck or in the transportation industry, I’d save your money and invest in ROBO and BOTZ etf stocks since this job won’t be here in 20 years. Maybe less.
Anne,
Your not related to Nasty Nancy P are you? You sound just like her. I’ll enjoy my crumbs while you and the failed democrats sit on your hands with stone cold faces. God bless you anyway. #MAGA.
You are correct Anne. Case in point, back in 2009, There was a new tax credit that amounted to $800 for a couple ($934 in today’s money) and Mike Pence had some words.
House Republican Leader Boehner called it “paltry.”
House Republican Conference Chairman Pence asked, ‘What’s 13 bucks a week going to do to get the economy moving again for the average American?’
Of course the term crumbs is relative. Look at Apple… When you are saving $47,000M ($47B) with the repatriation tax cut and give bonuses to employees that will amount to $300M then…well let’s math together…
300/47,000 = 0.006 or %0.6. When not even 1% of the savings from one aspect of tax cut is being spent on your employees’ one-time bonuses then, yes, it is crumbs.

Tax reform is what the powers in congress should consider, but they don’t. They always degenerate to same oh, same oh, tax cuts mantra which sounds better politically. True reform would involve serious bi-partisan conferences to put country first, ahead of party. Seems like typical politicians are still running the show who are only interested in keeping their power. To hell with what is best for the country. I was hoping this congress which is controlled by one party at the moment to do something good for the country for a change (and take credit for it), like reduce the national debt, instead of lowering tax revenues and increase the national debt by borrowing, then crowing “Look, we gave everybody a tax cut”. This is the perfect time to do something good for the country. A booming economy, gives us a chance to reduce the public debt, not borrow more. Since WWII, the neither party seemingly put fiscal responsibility above party politics. Even though I liked President Reagan, everyone knows that Reaganomics didn’t work to grow the economy enough to offset tax cuts and that tax cuts aren’t the most effective way to create jobs. And talk of wasteful spending, we must yell each time it raises its ugly head, like today for instance. The first Lady stays behind in China to visit the Great Wall, while Trump flies off to Vietnam. She will use another US Government Aircraft to later fly to Alaska, then back to DC. Additional extra unnecessary costs to the taxpayer: $500,000. A drop in the bucket and they don’t give a damn. It’s not their money. It’s our money. Sorry, I can’t stand the massive waste and corruption in our federal government and I have seen a lot. The Trump people don’t seem to care about efficiencies at all. Take for instance, Treasury Secretary, Steve Mnuchin who was caught trying to use a US Government plane to take him and his wife on a honeymoon to several countries in Europe or Health and Human Services Secretary, Tom Price who “resigned” for waste of taxpayers’ dollars by needlessly using very expensive charter flights and for trading in stocks he benefited from that was effected by legislation he introduced while in Congress. Interior Secretary Zinke secretly flying of private executive private jets owned by a oil company that he is supposed to oversee (in violation of Interior Department regulations involving conflict of interests) and arranging lucrative no-bid contracts for his friends in his small Idaho home town where his son use to work.
Dan, Joe and Anne, here’s a suggestion. Claim zero deductions, and don’t even file a tax return. Just donate your tax money to the wasteful government. Hopefully it will make you feel better about saving our country from filing for bankruptcy.
