Oil spill affecting creek near Dubois

From WITZ: An oil spill occurred Sunday night near Dubois which has affected a creek in the area. A small oil well developed a spill after a micro-switch failed to turn off a pump. The pump continued to operate, which allowed an overflow of sulfur water and oil gleanings to spill over a small dam and flow into a small creek.

The source says about 200 barrels of oil and sludge spilled into the stream. A company out of Loogootee has been called in and they have dammed off the spill and are pumping it out of the stream. The stream is located near SR 545 and the Dubois Crossroads right near the feed mill.

The spill has apparently been contained and no damage has been reported as a result. We will pass along more information on this as we work to obtain an official report this morning.

  1. What company is responsible for the spill? 200 barrels is a lot for a company not named BP or Exxon Mobil.

Now we get to have 200 barrels of oil in the water supply. Thanks "little oil".
