Mike Schmett, 66, Huntingburg
Mike Schmett, 66, of Huntingburg, passed away at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
He was born November 9, 1952, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Albert and Sarah (Maxey) Schmett. He married Linda L. Vollmer on March 12, 1983, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.
Mike was a farmer and owner of Schmett Farms LLC & MLDD, Inc. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching football, and farming.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jerry Schmett.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Schmett of Huntingburg; two children, Dustin (Jessica) Schmett of Huntingburg and Danielle (Evan) Weatherford of Ferdinand;one sister, Janet Chanley of Huntingburg; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Schmett of Huntingburg; and five grandchildren, Colton Schmett, Reagan Schmett, Stephen Schmett, Eli Weatherford and Camden Weatherford.
Funeral services for Mike Schmett will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2018, and also at the church one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday.

Mike loved singing in the choir at Salem. He was quick to ask for special help on difficult passages. He really respected the music and wanted it to be correct. We worked together on so many choral projects! The Christmas Eve service was especially important to him. Despite all the busyness of farming, he was faithful, and a joy to work with! I will think of him this Christmas Eve, and miss his voice at Salem!
