Memorial Hospital announces workers have contracted COVID-19; urges residents to stay home
Memorial Hospital is urging residents to stay home as some healthcare workers at the hospital have tested positive for COVID-19.
“The safety of our staff, patients and families is our top priority,” the hospital stated in a press release. “We can confirm that certain health care workers at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center have tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with CDC and public health guidance, following the diagnosis of a health care worker, we take several steps, including appropriate work restrictions for the worker and conducting a contact investigation. Accordingly, we are identifying and contacting patients and coworkers who potentially are at risk and are providing them with guidance on appropriate next steps.”
The hospital also explained that additional screening is already in place at the hospital for all staff and visitors. In addition, all employees working in patient care areas are masked and employees in non-patient care areas are masked when they are within six feet of another individual.
It is critical that the communities we serve listen to their local health department’s plea to “STAY HOME.”
The hospital is maintaining a local COVID-19 dashboard tracking the tests it has submitted and the results of those tests. The number of COVID-19 cases in the counter can be confusing since it counts the total number of cases in the county regardless of where those individuals were tested. Currently, one resident tested positive at and Evansville lab.
Here are Tuesday’s numbers:
115 – Tests submitted by Memorial Hospital
71 – Negative results submitted by Memorial Hospital
37 – Pending test results submitted by Memorial Hospital
7 – *Positive* results in Dubois County

I pray for all of you in the days ahead! I still consider you apart of my family and pray and wish only the best for all of you!! May God protect and guide you!

So, what does “some” health care workers translate to in terms of “how many” – ? Please, MHHCC and/or Health Dept – don’t play games or mince words any longer – be up front and transparent with people, given the critical nature of this critical reality.
Prayers for everyone in the medical field that are exposed to all sickness including covid-19. If we dont stay home and more healthcare workers get sick they will be very short staffed to take care of people. Prayers for you all
If “some health care workers” at Memorial have tested positive, why has the number for Dubois county not increased?
In times like these my thoughts and prayers are for all of us and especially our health care workers who stand on the front lines during this critical time. God bless and remember we will make it.
Prayers for all of you. Thoughts and prayers God bless you all
