Mayor replaces Jasper Street Commissioner and assistant
Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz will not reappoint Raymie Eckerle as the city’s street commissioner nor Lois Kuntz as the mayoral assistant in 2016.
Eckerle learned about the change after this morning’s Jasper Board of Public Works meeting. He has been the city’s street commissioner since 2000.
Here is a story about Eckerle’s recent recognition by the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns.
Eckerle and Seitz faced each other in the 2011 Republican primary.
Kuntz also recently found out about the change. She has worked as the assistant to the mayor since 1993.

Why? And why does Mr. Seitz think no comment is necessary? This has a bit of an odor about it.
To answer your questions in order: 1, Because he can (and I say that assuming he in fact can – without the approval of an appropriate board) and, 2, because no comment is necessary. This sort of thing is common both in public and private sector jobs when there is an administrative change or a new term begins with the incumbent desiring a fresh start here and there. People change, things change, etc. Plain and simple, no odor about it.
