Mabel G. Linthicum, 88, Birdseye

Mabel G. Linthicum, 88, of Birdseye, passed away at 1:21 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born April 7, 1932, in Birdseye, Indiana, to Raymond and Thelma (Newton) Holzbog. She married William Eugene Linthicum on January 21, 1956. 

Mabel was a homemaker, seamstress, and wedding cake baker/decorator.  She was able to travel the world with her husband during his service in the United States Air Force. She had the honor of helping raise her great-grandson, Ethan. Mabel was a member of the Birdseye Christian Church.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, William Eugene Linthicum, who passed away on December 2, 2006; an infant daughter, Norma Jean Eckert; seven siblings, Hershel Holzbog, Macel Holzbog, Frieda Wilkes, Marie Riley and Donald, Velda and Lois who died in infancy; and sister/brothers-in-law, Virginia Clark, Clayton Ingle, Carl Riley and Ron Gehlhausen.

She is survived by three daughters, Debbie Wright of Birdseye, Nancy Wright of Taswell and Margie (Donnie) Andry of Birdseye; eight siblings, Necie (Hubert) Morgan, Lee (Naomi) Holzbog, Sam (Marilyn) Holzbog, Roy (Tracey) Holzbog, Kathleen Ingle, Loretta Lytle, Vivian (Jim) Taylor and Wanda Gehlhausen; sister/brothers-in-law, Cornelia Holzbog, Norma Harmon and Basil Wilkes; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mabel G. Linthicum will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at the Birdseye Cemetery in Birdseye. Pastor Ron Hickman will officiate at the graveside service. 

Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the burial arrangements.
