LttE: Liberty is worth fighting for
When we pay taxes we always must remember liberty is worth fighting for.
The history of the world shows that individuals will covet power over the masses. History shows where privileged families rule over nations as kings or queens, dictators rule by the force of a weapon and threats, and governments whose original purpose was to protect the liberty of the people slowly remove those very freedoms
In our Country today, we face the latter and the State of Indiana isn’t all that fired up to stop it.
What do we do?
I encourage everyone to stay engaged as much as possible. Christian leaders and individuals need to follow and understand how the government is out to limit our liberty to life. Today this applies to babies being murdered before and after birth, limitations on freedom of religious speech, to name a few. The church was set up as the moral foundation of our system of government by our founders. It needs to once again get involved in politics at some level without compromising the primary mission given it by God.
As citizens of Indiana we need to lean on our federal and state elected officials to stand for the full life, liberty and pursuit of Happiness written in the Declaration of Independence. We are a collection of states that set up the federal government with very limited powers. Our Indiana elected officials need to begin to understand this and flex the muscle the founders gave us in the 10th amendment.
In addition, concerned citizens should be running for office at every level. The cities and counties in Indiana formed Indiana, and we should start expecting the State to stand up for freedom.
In Franklin County, the commissioners there passed an ordinance reaffirming the powers in the County Sheriff over the State and Federal governmental officials. Our county government needs to understand this and stand behind our sheriff with a similar ordinance.
At some future date, our descendants will look back and grade us. What will be the legacy you leave behind? We must get involved today.

The dumbest thing I keep seeing repeated over and over.
The founding fathers setup a government that allowed one human to own another human and we want to applaud their morals? Furthermore, you credit it to the “Christian morals.” Wow!
The founding fathers may have been intelligent men but if this is the moral foundation, no the *christian moral* foundation you call it, is what you wish to bring back then I have to ask, what the hell is wrong with people?
What is it about their moral foundation that you explicitly like? You don’t think there were abortions 200 years ago? You have more freedom of speech (especially religious) than ever? look why Pennsylvania is called the Quaker state for pete’s sake. Hell, some states have it written in their constitution that you must believe in a god to run for office… tantamount to restricted religious speech? how do you feel about that? What part of their morals are you calling “Christian” and good?
