Lisa J. Gehlhausen, 56, Ireland

Lisa J. Gehlhausen, 56, of Ireland, passed away at 11:27 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana.

She never wanted to leave the ones she loved behind, but she was ultimately prepared to accept God’s heavenly invitation. Up until the moment she finally did, Lisa fought cancer with grace, attitude, strength, and love.

Lisa was born in Jasper, Ind., on April 10, 1960, to Jim and Pat (Lechner) Weisheit. She married Jerry Gehlhausen on May 24, 1981, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

She was a 1978 graduate of Jasper High School. She was a past teller at Dubois County Bank Jasper and a past manager at AAA Travel Agency in Jasper for several years. She then ran her own daycare for 13 years, which she truly loved. Most recently, she was a clerk for the City of Jasper Utility Office. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, donated her time quilting for the church, and was chairman of the roast beef committee for the church picnic. She was a 19-year band parent and spent a lot of time volunteering with the band. She was a chairman for the Marching Wildcat Burger Stand.

She loved the outdoors and also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, camping, quilting, crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandson, Joel.

Surviving are her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Gehlhausen of Ireland; one daughter, Bridget Hanselman (Nathan) of Jasper; three sons, Benjamin “B.J.”, Bradley and Brayden Gehlhausen, all of Ireland; one grandson, Joel Hanselman; her mother, Pat Weisheit of Jasper; four sisters, Debbie Buschkoetter (Brian) of Shelbyville, Kathy Bierma (Ted) of Wilsonville, Ore., Tina Heim (Kent) of Jasper and Tonia Weisheit of Jasper; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is her father, Jim Weisheit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. A rosary will be prayed at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
