Letter: What we learned in kindergarten

Recently on a trip to the grocery store and then out walking on a gorgeous Sunday morning, I noticed damp, dirty disposable face masks lying on the ground.

I get it, we’re all tired of wearing them and can’t wait to get it off when we’re safely distanced, out of doors or back in our vehicle.

No one is going to pick it up after it’s been on someone’s face. They’re unsafe, unsightly and not good for the environment.

We learned as kids to dispose of trash properly, did we not?

I like to think we can do better.

  1. This used to be a decent county of hardworking Democrats, but as the GOP has taken over, their conservative values of selfishness and hatred have taken over as well. And it manifests itself as arrogance, litter, and general pig-headed entitlement.

    1. Yet again… another story on Free Press immediately ran into the political dump when there’s absolutely no reason for it whatsoever. Nice work – hope you get a sense of accomplishment. It’s rare we see goodhearted, unbiased comments on here; we’d all be better off if all comments were disabled on this site. Maybe folks would get from behind computers and social media and remember how to interact like decent human beings.

    2. So you are saying that all of the looters, rioters, and thugs that compromise BLM and ANTIFA are all Republicans because they leave trash wherever they go? Democrats are the party of entitlement, Republicans want the citizens to have a job and take care of themselves and their families. Democrats want to spend money until this country is bankrupt.

  2. I agree with JoJo!
It has nothing to do with politics. It’s about respecting your community and keeping this beautiful town clean.

  3. I also agree, politics has nothing to do with this. I think it shows a rebellious attitude towards businesses for the mandatory face mask rule.
I also think it shows a lack of responsibility, a lack of respect for your community and for yourself.

    1. If “politics has nothing to do with this” (first sentence, true) and “it shows a lack of responsibility…lack of respect…” et al (third sentence, also true), then what’s that hypocritical second sentence (of unproven, political-pointing speculation) which totally renders the others null and void of any credibility – ? If not known better, the same author that posted the original could have posted this one, in part!

  4. Mrs. Green, in my comment I said what I agreed with. I also went a step further than Geraldine Wendholt did. I added my personal opinion as to why people were throwing their disposable masks on the ground.
There’s nothing about that sentence that’s hypocritical, or unproven, and it’s not political-pointing speculation. It’s my personal opinion and nothing more.
