Letter: Trump fans flames of fear for America’s future

I have been glued to the television all day watching the unfolding Baton Rouge tragedy along with the security concerns for the Republican Convention scheduled to get underway tomorrow. It has occurred to me that the presumptive Republican candidate has done nothing to diffuse the murderous rage that has besieged the world this summer. On the contrary, Mr. Trump appears hell bent on inciting discord (at the very least), fury and retribution.

The incredibly clueless (ie cruel and incendiary) pronouncements he has repeatedly made concerning any and everyone who isn’t a born-again, gun-toting white male are horrifying.

What in the world is this man thinking?

While Mr. Trump continues his harranges concerning his beliefs in respect to Muslims and marginalized Americans he appears to have (conveniently?) forgotten that there are brave Americans serving overseas in the armed forces and law enforcement officers serving throughout our country (many of who are not born-again white males) who are suffering the consequences of his vitriol.

Donald Trump terrifies me for our country and our world. For the first time in my life I am fearful for the future of my children and grandchildren

  1. Mr . Trump is not yet a politician!
Perhaps you should study the works of the current administration! So sad!!!

  2. Becky and Dodi,

Good for you. Don’t let lesser robotic minds disabuse you of your knowledge of the facts. You are spot on. Your apprehension about an appallingly anti-democratic plutocrat is understandable. However, I feel confident in assuring you that Donald Trump is never going to be president of the United States. He will lose and be relegated to the dustbin of history, but not without forever dividing, if not obliterating, the Republican Party as we knew it.

I wouldn’t put much stock in Mr. Lewinski’s predictions. His record as a prognosticator is poor. He assured anybody who would listen that Dr. Ben Carson would be the Republican candidate for president. Then, when Carson dropped out, it was going to be Ted Cruz. And, of course, Marlin Stutzman would be the Republican nominee for the Senate.

Take a deep breath and know that this, too, shall pass.
