Letter to the Editor: Re-elect Terry Seitz

I am voting to re-elect Terry Seitz for Mayor on November 3.

My first encounter with Terry was years ago via his inspirational emails that I received. I would always open and read them, but think, “Is this guy for real?  Who could be THIS optimistic and positive all the time?” Yet every so often they trickled into my email and I never deleted without reading.

As chance would have it, I officially met Terry at Azura one Black Friday morning. My husband, Merrill, the kids, and I walked in after shopping all night quite happy. Merrill smiled and waved when he noticed Terry sitting all alone.  Terry smiled back saying, “I am sitting here enjoying watching your family. My wife passed away last night and I’m wondering what I am going to do with the rest of my life.”

As time went on, the connections continued. The following Halloween we met again at the Central Green, happy to discover he was dating one of Merrill’s work associates and friends, Deena. A couple years ago, Terry and Deena married and became our backyard neighbors. And so the friendship began.

Terry is a friend and a neighbor, yet he has my vote because…

• He is black and white: Decisive, clear and direct.
• He is colorful as he cuts red in our budget and saves our community green, while teaching us all how to work together and spend smarter.
• He is true blue:  Honest and full of integrity. What you see is what you get. Period.
• He is firebrand orange: Forward-thinking, full of energy and focused on revitalization.
• He is truly golden: He has nothing but the best of intentions for our community. He is Jasper proud and strong, through and through.

Terry made a great decision on what to do with the rest of his life and Jasper is very lucky he chose to serve us. Please join me on Nov. 3 and vote to re-elect Terry Seitz for Mayor of Jasper.
