Letter to the Editor: Mittens vs. Dr. No
The republican primary is down to two remaining candidates. We have the moderate republican from Massachusetts and the limited government republican from Texas.
We all know that Mitt Romney supported a whole plethora of big government programs like TARP, Medicare Part D, the bailouts, and countless others. We also know that Ron Paul has never voted for an unbalanced budget, tax increase, or government mandate.
Romney’s top contributors to his 2012 presidential campaign have been Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, and Bank of America. Mitt Romney sure can raise the money but where is it coming from? Is this the grassroots candidate that we are looking for to challenge Barack Obama?
Ron Paul is the true grassroots candidate. His top contributors are the Air Force, Army, and Navy. He has received more donations from active duty military personnel than Mitt Romney, Barack Obama, and all the other republican candidates combined. This is extremely telling. If the troops are looking at Ron Paul, maybe we should too.
I haven’t heard Ron Paul’s name on the news lately but I keep hearing about these huge crowds that he has had at his rallies. He had close to 10,000 people at a rally in California and crowds of 4,000 and 6,000 in Texas. This guy has some serious support. He even had a crowd of 4,000 come see him speak in Philadelphia when it was raining.
Ron Paul might not be the perfect candidate but he sure has a record of fighting the status quo. Ron Paul has been consistent his whole career. There is no issue of flip flopping on any issue because of his consistency. If you’re tired of big government, if you’re tired of mandates, if you’re tired of being told one thing and getting the other, then vote Ron Paul in this May 8 Republican Primary.

Right on! Couldn't agree more! Nominating Mitt Romney would be the Republican's downfall. How is going to debate Obama on the healthcare mandate and bailouts, not to mention the increasing overseas interventions? Short answer: he can't! Maybe that's what the bankers funding BOTH Obama and Romney's campaigns want.
While Paul might be a better potential president than Romney. Romney is going to be the Republican nominee its a gurantee. Republicans need to unite and send Obama packing.

Nick is right. We would be better off with Ron Paul than Mitt Romney. Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of a Paul candidacy. I say this having voted for Ron Paul. Our challenge is stopping Obama, and the damn Republican establishment candidate can do that. We can vote for Ron Paul in May, but not in November. We have to do the conservative thing, and preserve the Republic from the [provide your own adjectives] Progressive who is destroying our country. Once that's done, we can sort things out.
In the mean time, you can vote for Kristi Risk and Richard Mourdoch. That will add two more constitutional voices in Washington who understand the rule of law and limited government.
It is shaping up to be an interesting race! It remains to be seen if the GOP will actually listen to people saying they don't want more of what they have been getting. Ideally, a strong conservative Senate, House, and President would be best, because then we could start getting back to the way this country is meant to be governed. However, two out of three would work, too…
Micael has a great point but until Mitt wraps it up, it is up to conservatives to continue to vote for the most conservative person left. I say this for two reasons.
1. What you tell Mitt. Your vote for the anti-Mittens reminds him that he can't slide to the left. We will be looking for a Reagan type for 2016 regardless, but we might back off if he stays the conservative course.
2. Giving more power to Ron Paul at the convention gives conservatives more power to shape the platform.
I understand Mittens will win the GOP nomination. Don't sell out your vote to a RINO when conservaties can make a difference for conservatism at the convention.
The BIGGER deal is to vote for Kristi Risk and Richard Mourdock. Get a sign, and go door to door this week.
Mitt Romney does *not* have this thing wrapped up. The truth is Mitt Romney is no where near the 1144 needed to win. Plus Rasmussen shows Ron Paul polling better against Obama than Romney does. Paul resonates better with Independents and disenfranchised Democrats. He is winning unbound delegates fast. I absolutely refuse to vote the lesser of two evils. I will boycott the election if my only choices are Obama or Obama-lite. In the end, I will vote for the fix to America's problems (Paul) or I might as well vote for Obama again, because Obama will get America to a revolution faster than anyone else.
You can bash my comment all you want, but our military is sending a VERY strong message with their sizable contributions to Paul. If we won't listen to that, we deserve what Obama has planned for us. I am a Navy Veteran (14-years) and I'm sick of what my country has become. I have no liberties anymore. Since getting out of the service in 2007, I've been homeless, because here in Indiana almost no one wants to hire an overqualified veteran. I currently work for minimum wage at McDonald's to support my wife and 3 children.
I've also been arrested by several police officers on perjured affidavits. This means cops knowingly and willfully lied (felony) ON PAPER to put me in jail for a misdemeanor. No prosecutor in either county will file charges against the city of state police officers involved, so although my case ends up getting dismissed, the felonious officers get away with their antics – SCOTT-FREE!
Even as I'm writing this not many of you will care. If we want Paul, all we have to do is keep shouting that we want Paul. When there is enough noise, we get what we want. I mean Obama got elected without ever proving where he was born.
I am a tea party-esque conservative and I will NOT vote for Mitt Romney even if he wins the Republican nomination. If Obama wins in November, we will have another 4 years of a very obvious bad President. If Mitt wins in November we will have 4 years (or more!) of a not-so-obvious bad President. I'd rather have the incompetence out in the open, not hiding behind the Republican Party name.
