Letter: Sadly, I was suckered by the Republican mantra

Sadly, I was suckered into the Republican mantra against Hillary Clinton and I voted for Donald.

No, I am not just a sore loser, my candidate won. Now we see the true face of this Republican administration as quietly endorsing culturally divisive tactics that are anti-black, anti-Hispanic, anti-Muslim, anti- Semite, and so forth. A good example: A few months ago, a Federal Judge named Paul Curiel, was overseeing a case against Donald Trump when he called that federal judge a biased “Mexican”, just because he had a Hispanic name. (The judge was born and schooled in Indiana and graduated with honors)…At that time, the Republican speaker of the house Paul Ryan described Donald’s comments as “the true definition of racism” (at least until Donald was sworn in, then everybody’s tune changed quickly).

No matter what the Donald reads from a prepared script to denounce hatred and racism, it is hard for him to hide his 70 years of core racist beliefs and in his own superiorities and arrogance. For many months, by his silence, he accepted along with his top advisor, Steve Bannon the adoration and support of racist groups like the KKK and American Nazi Party. The underlying hatred being generated by this new face of this republican administration is intolerable and feeds hate crimes.

There are many good, decent people, relatives and neighbors that profess the Republican mantel. Maybe it is time they look into their own souls to see if they really want to continue to support this man who, on the record, likes to brag about grabbing women’s “p—–‘s”, supports abortion on demand, calls freedom of the press an enemy of the American people, refers to Putin as a strong leader, disparages the American people by saying we are just as bad as Russia when it comes to killing innocents, disregards advice of completely patriotic American intelligence agencies warning of Russian electoral meddling calling them a bunch of “leakers” saying nothing to see hear, move along…(the last thing Trump wants is to have an independent investigation into his criminal ties to Comrade Putin – “believe me”), pays no attention to the advice of his newly appointed National Security Advisor, accuses the former president of committing a felony, without any evidence (this is his style to generate alarming lies to divert bad attention to his own failures and likely criminal activities). And has generally been caught in countless lies. Though promised, he refuses to release his taxes (which would prove – or – disprove his financial ties to Russia), refuses to support term limits, governs by executive order, and refuses to divest his business interests from government interests (in violation of the US Constitution).

And does he really believe that 3,000,000 to 5,000,000 votes that Hillary received were from illegal aliens? If so, where is his promised investigation?

More BS. I will not do as my Republican friends did to President Obama by wishing for his failure. I wish for his success as long as he is the pilot of the plane and we are his passengers. Doesn’t mean I have to believe his or his cronies’ lies and agree to disparage my country.

First Flynn was caught lying and was fired. Now Attorney General Sessions was caught lying under oath and only later after the truth was discovered “recuses” himself instead of resigning. This upset the Donald so much, he was furious with his staff and had to take off for another weekend in Florida, to visit his Key Largo secretary instead of visiting his beautiful family in New York. Good family man with good republican values? I call for him to do what is best for our country: that is to resign and, at least, let a sane individual take over the reins of our federal government temporarily. Otherwise, I have no doubt we will find ourselves in another war within months. Oh, did I mention he was born in Kenya? Believe me….

  1. I don’t understand why you voted for Trump. After all, a lot of his questionable behavior and outrageous claims that you mention were known long before the election.

    1. I voted for Trump because I really disliked Hillary. Was talked into it by family members. Don’t regret my vote, just very disappointed by Donald and his lies and complete lack of competency. He should resign for the better of our country. Let somebody honest like Pence take over…

      1. The day ObamaCare passed, Mike Pence said it was a worse day than 9/11. Later, knowing how that was an incredible insensitive comment to make, he redacted his comment.

Pence also said tobacco does not kill people. yeah Pence is a jerk and a fool.

  2. Dan, Your as bad as the Demon-crats running loose in our country. What you spewed in your letter is hog-wash. This American Patriot for one is sick to my stomach hearing from the socialist side of the country how Mr. Trump is this and that with absolutely zero proof. Can the crap already lets get this nation moving forward. Reference Gen Flynn just how do you think the so called link between him and the Russian Amb was discovered? Can you say wire-tap? Gen Flynn was at Trump Tower when taped hum? Mr. Sessions is a very honorable man and what is happening is nothing more that a political with hunt by the Demon-crats with Barack Hussein behind it. These are the FACTs sir. But don’t take my word for it just wait for it. There is an old saying, It will all come out in the wash. Just wait for it!

    1. Tom,

You didn’t even mention the fake media, which prints garbage and lies about Flynn and Sessions and Bannon. Yet not a word about the Bowling Green massacre or the Orlando massacre or the massacre in Sweden! No follow-up on the thousands of Muslims cheering in New York as the Twin Towers were hit! Or the fact that Cruz’s father conspired with Oswald to kill Kennedy! As you say, these are facts, but the liberal crooked media refuses to recognize them!

The socialist left wing media is the enemy of democracy!!!!!!!

  3. There seems to a great deal of vitriol toward Mr. Barrett simply for voicing an opinion. I applaud his bout of self-reflection and willfulness to share the conclusion that he may have made the wrong choice. We all make many choices every day–and not all of them end up correct. Tearing down our fellow Hoosiers with name-calling and aggression only further serves to divide us as not only as people but as neighbors and countrymen.

It is constructive to encourage more objective analysis and independent thought from anyone who has strong feelings about these things no matter what side of the aisle you sit. Remember the people you so hastily lambaste are your neighbors and coworkers–people who might have different ideas about a few things but are still like you at the end of the day.

    Thank you,
