Letter: Republicans seem to have conflicting priorities
Is this Republican administration the true face of the new Republican Party? Is this what one calls “conservative?”
This current republican administration seems to be one of conflicting priorities, misconceptions and strange, misleading comments with a big dose of arrogance along with strong desires to limit freedom of the press and freedom of religion.
However, I did appreciate this Republican president attacking the first vote of the new Republican Congress to do away with the Independent House Ethics Committee which investigates graft and corruption of congressmen. Upon hearing the president’s concern, they immediately and quietly (along with our several Indiana Congressman) voted to rescind their vote.
Sadly, this administration withheld the truth from Vice President Pence regarding administration contacts with high level Russian intelligent agents which lead to the firing of the National Security Advisor. Or that the president now decided that he will not disclose his income tax returns, which would prove he had no business ties to Russia. Nor will he support congressional term limitations or divest of his family’s business interests contrary to his promises.
Very worrisome is his top advisor (Steve Bannon), a known white supremacist and anti-Semite, who has the admiration and support of the KKK and American Nazi Party.
My recent visit to the US/Mexican border and discussions with US Border Patrol Agents indicate that a wall is not best, but rather a double fence system as I was shown, with a BP vehicle inside patrolling along with very good electronic surveillance as currently being constructed is a much better way and much less expensive.
And why bar scared refugees from any country, yet allow Saudis, Egyptians, Pakistanis (who have actually attacked the USA) to come and go freely. Terrorists can easily buy citizenship documents from many different countries, like Venezuela.
On the other hand, based on perceptions that corporate taxes would be going down, making US companies more profitable, the stock market is going up. To many who own common stocks, this is a big money maker.
Also worrisome is the fact that one Republican senator recently stated, “Why would Republicans want to waste time/money investigating other Republicans?” (Remember Benghazi)
Strange world, different times.

Your post shows the ignorance and blindness that the left has shown the last 8 years… So let’s break down your post one by one:
-You say this Republican Administration shows strong desires to limit free press and free religion… Care to remind me who colluded with the Democratic National Committee? Care to remind me who leaked questions to Hillary Clinton? Don’t sit here and tell me Trump is trying to “Limit free press”. Trump is calling out the press that colluded against him. Just about every major news organization colluded with the DNC. When news organizations are going to DNC parties, leaking questions, etc. is it really a “free press”?
And as far your broad “limiting free religion” comment, I assume you are talking about the Travel Ban…. This is outrageous. The ban kept people out of the USA based upon the country in which they come from, not religion. The United States currently accepts the largest amount of immigrants from any country. The ban affects less than 1% of immigration. Is it a horrible thing that we want to ban immigrants that come from countries without a government that can keep control of its own area?? That’s called responsibility. Not “limiting religion”. Bring in the good. Keep out the bad.
Do you lock your doors at night? I’m assuming the answer is “yes”. To that, I ask, why? The majority of your neighbors are good, right? You keep that door locked to keep that <1% out. That <1% that can wreak absolute havoc on you and your family. Why is Donald Trump arrogant for locking his doors, and letting the people in, who he knows is going to respect the laws of this country?
-Steve Bannon is a "known white supremacist"? Just how is that? And I love how you point to the "support" of the groups you listed above… Black Lives Matter, who chants for the death of Police, supported Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Does this mean they condone that behavior?
-As far as your comments about the House Ethics Committee- I agree. It's a bi-partisan group that investigates corruption. And Trump absolutely strong armed Republicans into letting it go instead of doing away with it.
I agree with you though, these are "different times". I never thought I'd be shunned and called a bigot for thinking marriage is between a man and a woman. I never thought I was a horrible person for thinking a man should use the men's restroom, and a woman should use the women's restroom. But here we stand today, with a completely corrupt media, trying to discredit Donald Trump, and all conservatives everywhere. Americans were left to sift through this media, think twice about what they read and hear. And many have seen this, as is evident by Donald Trump as President.
Mr. Barrett it sounds like you’re producing “FAKE NEWS” or if you will “J”-unk News.
AMEN! Awesome post Bob and so true.
Tom,
You are so right. The crooked liberal media has recently taken to the habit of publishing stories based on so-called “anonymous” sources. Since when has that become real journalism? We all know what that means — anti conservative!
And at the same time the real news stories never gets covered at all. I looked but couldn’t find anything — not anything– on the Swedish massacre that Mr. Trump mentioned just last weekend. Nothing about the Bowling Green massacre that Kellyanne Conway recently pointed out. Nothing about the Atlanta massacre that Sean Spicer brought up three times just this week!
And this isn’t anything new. Tom, Bob, (anybody), did you ever see any follow up stories to Mr. Trump’s tip that Ted Cruz’s father worked with Lee Harvey Oswald to kill Kennedy? If you’re like me, I’m sure you didn’t. Coincidence? I DON’T THINK SO!!!
I don’t think the evil media has any place in a democracy.
A very good rebuttal, Bob! Our thoughts exactly!
The liberals seem to always say what fits their agenda,,Great rebuttal Bob..
