Letter: Plenty of reasons for impeachment
At his Senate confirmation hearing, Attorney General Jeff Sessions perjured himself under oath stating he never had contact with any Russian government official while working on the Trump campaign.
He lied.
After that lie became known, he announced he would “recuse himself” on all Trump-Russia matters at the Justice Department. So why did Sessions advise President Trump to fire FBI Director James Comey? The FBI Director was simply getting too close to finding the truth regarding Russian collusion with the Trump campaign. It was despicable the way Trump dragged the name of a hardworking, loyal, patriotic American like Mr. Comey through the mud.
Now is the time for all patriotic Americans, regardless of politics, to notify your federal representatives in writing, by telephone, or by e-mail to support an independent special prosecutor to take over the Russia election meddling investigations from the politicians. The current administration obviously is trying to hide and cover up wrongdoing by its associates. As long as the politicians retain control of this investigation the American people will never have the satisfaction of knowing the truth and the crimes against the American people will continue.
Trump continues to be a worldwide embarrassment and demands personal loyalty above that of the country.
Actually, for starter Trump should be impeached for the following.
- Obstruction of justice:
- Firings in order to silence Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, US Attorney Preet Bharara and FBI Director James Comey;
- Racketeering and corruption under Federal RICO law when Flynn, Stone, Page, and Manafort go down on RICO charges, the entire group is included Trump, Ivanka, Jared, Pence, Sessions, Rosenstein, Conway, Spicer, Preibus, and Bannon as co-conspirators;
- Treason for collusion and conspiring against the United States with a foreign power;
- Violation of the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution;
- Violation of Federal Witness Intimidation laws;
- Violation of anti-nepotism laws for hiring his daughter and son-in-law as federal employees;
- Disclosure of classified information;
- Self-dealing while occupying a federal office by advertising of his businesses and those of his wife and daughter on federal websites and property;
- Abuse of power;
- Making numerous and false defamatory statements.
Where are the Republicans of good character that will put country above party?
Recently I inquired of our own Congressman Bucshon if he supported Trump. The answer, “Of course, he’s Republican” (so much for patriotism). I asked Bucshon if he believed in term limits. He answered that he was not going to debate it, turned around and walked away. (He loves the power)
Dan Barrett

Doesn’t moral standards, child sacrifice, international/national terrorism, and a host of other issues come before politics. We are like cattle that follow the political attitudes of our previous family generations, should we just be consumed like a frog being eaten by a snake and do nothing? Wake up friends, we are in a different world. The good citizens of Dubois County should shed the shackles of their former selves and move to higher ground before it’s too late. God Bless on this beautiful Mothers Day, could be your last one.
To my good friend Dan I would raise the following points.
Much of what you say by way of criticism of President Trump applies to the last President, far more than the current one. Furthermore, the head of any department or agency in our vast federal bureaucracy serves at the pleasure of the President. They are subordinates. He may fire them at will. No law is broken. In addition, James Comey had compromised himself. He exceeded his authority and usurped power that rightfully belonged to the Justice Department. He politicized the FBI and was widely condemned by both parties including no less Democrat luminaries than Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer and former Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. It was time for him to go and the letter from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, a law enforcement official respected on both sides of the aisle, advising President Trump as such spelled it out thoroughly. As far as the interminable investigation regarding Russian collusion with the Trump campaign, it will continue fully resourced as testified by acting FBI director Andrew McCabe (a Democrat). Thus far there is not a shred of evidence to support any such dealings despite investigations that have taken place since July. That, by the way, is a pony show for Democrats who, delicate snowflakes that they are, have not accepted the results of the 2016 election, and, of course, never will.
But the real scandal begging for investigation is the Obama administration’s surveillance of members of the Trump campaign, the press including James Rosen, Cheryl Atkinson, the Associated Press, the Israeli Ambassador, Prime Minister Netanyahu, various Jewish and non-Jewish groups that supported Israel and opposed the Iran Nuclear Deal, and many others. It is the unmasking of American citizens unlawfully, the dispersal of that information throughout the government, and the leaking of such information to the press. It was the weaponization of the IRS against conservative groups in 2012, and so many others (Benghazi, Fast and Furious, and so on).
As far as “collusion,” the main collusion occurring today is not between Trump officials and Vladimir Putin but between the media and the Democrat Party. But that requires no investigation. That is as obvious as the nose on your face. Our Sovietized media serves as the propaganda wing of the Democrat Party and makes no bones about it.
I include a link to a previous article published right here in our very own dcfreepress on the deep and abiding collusion and love-affair between our Reds, the Democrats, and the Russian Reds.
https://duboiscountyfreepresscom.wpcomstaging.com/opinion-new-red-scare/
I also include a quote from conservative activist Mike Lewinsky.
“’The FBI Director was simply getting too close to finding the truth regarding Russian collusion….’ And where is there any proof what so ever of this accusation? Dan is nothing more than a partisan Progressive hack whose letter to the editor is overflowing with false changes directed towards President Trump.”
Thank you,
Richard Moss MD
Thank you Dr. Moss. I doubt anyone could have said it any better and so true. God bless you sir.
Well, if moral standards is the direction we’re going, here’s a timeless little ditty that’s much more sobering and controllable than you might think: “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” In such a world where we’re trying to make (and worse – teach, force, legislate) as normal, women as men and men as women, and that two daddies or two mommies are somehow legitimate, plus a host of other perverted, abhorrent and blasphemous practices, policies and philosophies, we had better return fast and furious to traditional rocking and rearing if we hope to have much of a future. We didn’t get in this sorry way overnight and it will take many years to get back, but we must try – and pray. It ain’t the politics or politicians – rather the hearts of humanity.
Thanks to you Dan for proving once again “Fake News” is alive and well in Dubious County.
Wow! Where does Mr.Barrett hear the load of crap that he spewed out? I presume he watches CNN too much & believes everything he sees & reads. Let’s use common sense (not so common anymore) to distinguish what is real and what are twisted lies that many news networks are churning out.
It seems the latest Democratic (soap box) would be to compare Trump to Nixon?! Not even close! They must a.) not remember any FACTS about Watergate, and b.) believe the many fake news events that are being reported today that have absolutely NO correlation.
I’m truly dumbfounded…….
I am so disappointed with the individuals who say they are patriotic and allow this administration to whittle away at our rights. I don’t understand why people can not admit “oops we made a HUGE mistake”. Not only is ” 45″ an utter embarrassment to the United States of America but he honestly does not know a damn thing about government , which to me should completely disqualify someone from having a job within the government! This is not a job you can fake it til you make it it! This in not a corporate position that can allow a for a learning curve. THIS IS THE FACE OF OUR NATION people , or to borrow from “45” The DEFACE of our nation. If this were a business and he was the new CEO he would have been fired within the first 90 day for running the company into the ground. Any company would have cut their losses before this unhinged individually could cause more irreversible damage to the brand.
I am also disappointed in individuals bringing up the previous administration, how is that going to help our country? We can’t change history ( unless of course you are the current POTUS ) . I do recommend that everyone in the this current administration take a day to watch School House Rock videos until they have at least an elementary understanding of how our government works.
I agree with everything you said Dan. Please don’t be afraid to voice your views even though in our area there seems to be a lot of people with their Trump blinders on.
Regarding the Fake News comment above please explain what of the listed about items of Dan’s were fake? And it if you are so proud of your stance then why submit it without your name?
Kelly Maher
Kelly, here is the information you requested.
1. Obstruction of justice:
Obstruction may consist of any attempt to hinder the discovery, apprehension, conviction or punishment of anyone who has committed a crime. The acts by which justice is obstructed may include bribery, murder, intimidation, and the use of physical force against witnesses, law enforcement officers or court officials.
The investigation into the Russian meddling into the US Election is not a criminal investigation it is a counter terrorism investigation. Obstruction of justice is a legal term used in criminal investigations. In the article James Comey clearly states that the investigation is a counter intelligence matter. The news agencies and the Democrats know this but they are “fake newsing” the American public in hopes of obstructing the President and the Republican Congress. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/03/20/full-transcript-fbi-director-james-comey-testifies-on-russian-interference-in-2016-election/?utm_term=.4075a1ce823f
2. Firings in order to silence Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, US Attorney Preet Bharara and FBI Director James Comey;
The firing of Sally Yates was because she refused to defend the Presidents “Travel Ban” before the US District Court. She refused a direct order to file an appeal. At the time Sally Yates was the Deputy AG and serves at the pleasure of the President.
Preet Bharara and James Comey are political appointees who serve at the pleasure of the President.
Mr. Bharara was terminated along with the other US Attorney’s just as the last 4 administrations have terminated US Attorney’s.
James Comey was fired because he violated the Justice Departments Rules. When Loretta Lynch recused herself from the Clinton email scandal, AG Lynch did not recuse her Deputy Attorney General, who was James Comey’s boss, Sally Yates. In his last testimony before Congress, Comey said if he had to do it all over again, he would do the same thing. That means he would skip his boss the Deputy AG. The FBI investigates charges and the Justice Department prosecutes
them. Comey acted as both investigator and prosecutor.
3. Racketeering and corruption under Federal RICO law when Flynn, Stone, Page, and Manafort go down on RICO charges, the entire group is included Trump, Ivanka, Jared, Pence, Sessions, Rosenstein, Conway, Spicer, Preibus, and Bannon as co-conspirators;
The Federal RICO law defined says: Passed in 1970, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) is a federal law designed to combat organized crime in the United States. It allows prosecution and civil penalties for racketeering activity performed as part of an ongoing criminal enterprise. Such activity may include illegal gambling, bribery, kidnapping, murder, money laundering, counterfeiting, embezzlement, drug trafficking, slavery, and a host of other unsavory business practices. To convict a defendant under RICO, the government must prove that the defendant engaged in two or more instances of racketeering activity and that the defendant directly invested in, maintained an interest in, or participated in a criminal enterprise affecting interstate or foreign commerce. The law has been used to prosecute members of the mafia, the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, and Operation Rescue, an anti-abortion group, among many others.
Again, RICO is a law from criminal enterprise not counter intelligence. Not one news outlet or political organization has even mentioned TRUMP and RICO in the same sentence when it comes to the Trump Administration. This is definitely “FAKE NEWS”.
4. Treason for collusion and conspiring against the United States with a foreign power;
Treason is defined in Article 3 Section 3 of the US Constitution: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. Only six cases since WWII have been brought for treason. ALL six were during a time of war against an enemy combatant. We are not at war with Russia. Russia is not defined as an enemy to the United States. “FAKE NEWS”
5. Violation of the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution;
The Emoluments Clause has never been prosecuted on anyone in the United States. Not President Obama when he received a $1M Nobel Prize to Hillary Clinton receiving foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation. More “Fake News” https://www.nationalreview.com/magazine/2017-03-06-0000/foreign-emoluments-clause-trump-administration-constitution
6. Violation of Federal Witness Intimidation laws;
President Trump informed James Comey to not leak their meetings to the press or he would provide possible taped conversations to the media. Trump’s message was specific and clear. Don’t leak our meeting to the media. In order to be a violation, he would have specifically had to mention official testimony to a court or Congress.
(b) Whoever knowingly uses intimidation, threatens, or corruptly persuades another person, or attempts to do so, or engages in misleading conduct toward another person, with intent to—
(1) influence, delay, or prevent the testimony of any person in an official proceeding;
(2) cause or induce any person to—
(A) withhold testimony, or withhold a record, document, or other object, from an official proceeding;
(B) alter, destroy, mutilate, or conceal an object with intent to impair the object’s integrity or availability for use in an official proceeding;
(C) evade legal process summoning that person to appear as a witness, or to produce a record, document, or other object, in an official proceeding; or
(D) be absent from an official proceeding to which such person has been summoned by legal process; or(3) hinder, delay, or prevent the communication to a law enforcement officer or judge of the United States of information relating to the commission or possible commission of a Federal offense or a violation of conditions of probation?[1] supervised release,,[1] parole, or release pending judicial proceedings; shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.
7. Violation of anti-nepotism laws for hiring his daughter and son-in-law as federal employees;
5 U.S. Code § 3110 – Employment of relatives; restrictions: Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump Kushner do not receive compensation for their employment.
(c) An individual appointed, employed, promoted, or advanced in violation of this section is not entitled to pay, and money may not be paid from the Treasury as pay to an individual so appointed, employed, promoted, or advanced.
8. Disclosure of classified information;
The President of the United States has the authority to declassify any secret he/she chooses. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/can-trump-disclose-classified-information-whenever-he-wants-n729601
9. Self-dealing while occupying a federal office by advertising of his businesses and those of his wife and daughter on federal websites and property;
In fact, 18 U.S.C. Section 202 specifically states, as relating to Section 208 which deals with financial interests:
“Except as otherwise provided in such sections, the terms ‘officer’ and ’employee’ in sections 203, 205, 207 through 209, and 218 of this title shall not include the President, the Vice President, a Member of Congress, or a Federal judge.”
http://lawnewz.com/high-profile/trump-is-right-conflict-of-interest-rules-dont-apply-to-him/
“FAKE NEWS”
10. Abuse of power;
This one is just too vague to respond to.
11. Making numerous and false defamatory statements.
It is not illegal to make false defamatory statements to the general public or media. It is illegal to do it under oath before a court of law or Congressional committee. Bill Clinton learned the hard way with Monica Lewinsky and Hillary completely changed her story on the email while under oath with the FBI.
Daryl Hensley – Jasper, IN.
AWESOME rebuttal, Daryl! HE speaks the truth with FACTS!
OK, all you Stalinist-like apologists for Donald Trump — give me your coordinated excuse for his latest impeachable offence.
It was learned today that the president of the United States personally divulged to the Russian ambassador to the U.S., as well as the Russian foreign minister, highly classified information that jeopardized critical sources of intelligence on the Islamic state. This intelligence was deemed so sensitive that it was withheld from our own allies and parts of our own government.
I don’t need to know the law on this. If you or I had given up our intelligence sources within the Islamic state, we would be arrested and criminally prosecuted. I know the president has the legal authority to declassify intelligence whenever he chooses, with impunity.
My take is that the president of the United States suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder and a massive ignorance that what he says has consequences. He is in over his head to the tune of about twenty thousand leagues.
But, hey, that’s just my opinion. I’d like to know what the comrades think. Was Trump right to do this? If a President Hillary Clinton had done this, would it have been the right thing? Please, no references to previous presidents, etc. Just answer the question.
I’ll give you time to put together your lockstep answer, which I know will be totally in keeping with the party line. (“Ooooh. More FAKE news!” “Never happened.” “Alternative facts.” “Democrat envy because Trump won the popular vote.” )
Give it your best shot, comrades, but I don’t expect much more than what you have already regurgitated.
And “Tom,” whoever in the world you are, God bless you. But stay out of Dubois County. Judging by your first post, your time may be better spent working on your English grammar.
Scott Newton
Scott, I wish you would have followed your own advise and took more time to formulate your letter. You normally do much better. 🙂
You start your letter off by restating what you already knew.
– Yes the President can declassify any classified information. No crime.
– Yes Trump is a Narcissist…That was baked into the cake when we elected him.
-Yes Trump is ignorant. He’s not a career politician corrupted by lobby money.
– Yes Trump is in over his head…thank God for VP Mike Pence.
– Yes Trump is not Hillary Clinton. Never Hillary!
Dan Rather said of Donald Trump. “I have never seen a week where a president of our nation has behaved with such a cavalier disregard for the norms and institutions of our democracy.”
It was those norms and institutions of our democracy that has us $20 T in debt.
With all of that going on, look at what Trump has done since he was elected:
– Unemployment 4.4% lowest since May 2007. 3.30% in Dubois County
– Job killing Federal regulations…Gone
– Neil Gorsuch…Supreme Court
– Illegal Southern border crossings down 60%. “Stop and Release” of border crossers ended.
– Failing Obamacare repealed in the House of Representatives
– 738M new jobs created Jan.-Apr 2017 vs 692M created Sept.-Dec. 2016
– Trade agreements being renegotiated
Daryl Hensley – Jasper IN.
Daryl,
I’ve seen what Trump has done since he was elected, and, as a progressive, I think this is where we parse through issues and probably agree to disagree. To wit:
– Unemployment: Trump had the good fortune of inheriting a rebounding economy, something Obama never had.
– Job killing regulations: Well, that would include people killing regulations. Relaxed mine safety regulations equals more dead miners. (Of course, don’t ask Don Blankenship about that.) Relaxed levels of arsenic in drinking water equals more dead children.
– Neil Gorsuch: Never have been an originalist or a textualist; pretty much think it’s a judicial philosophy that collapses under its own weight when subjected to the most minimal degree of scrutiny; I remember his mom; didn’t much care for her either, and he’s a chip off the old block.
– Border crossings: This raises the question: Where are all the 10th Amendment conservatives that proliferated during Obama’s tenure? Immigration is a federal issue. Why should local law enforcement agree to accept letters of detainer from ICE, commanding them to violate the 5th Amendment? Honestly, monitoring court rooms and churches to question and detain those with foreign accents, with nothing close to probable cause. I weep for my country.
– Obamacare: Not perfect, but if Obama had not given it a stab, rest assured the subject would never have even been broached by Republicans, who seemed to think everything was just peachy. By the way, Trumpcare is what will turn the House in 2018. Can you say, “Where was the CBO score?” The Senate will never pass a bill before the 2018 mid-terms.
– New Jobs: See “Unemployment” above.
– Trade Agreements: At the risk of sounding Republican, I believe that this country’s long record of engaging in multi-lateral trade agreements has proven beneficial.
Daryl,
What I wanted to know, in particular, was what the Trump crowd thought of Trump’s divulging the highest level of U.S. intelligence to the Russians. Not the legalities of it. We know that. Do they think it was a good thing? Do they think that Trump had some kind of intelligent, thoroughly vetted, ulterior motive in giving up this intelligence. Would it have been a good thing if President Hillary Clinton had done the same thing? Israel was the country that was outed. Our relationship with Israel will certainly survive. But what about other countries who will now think twice about cooperating with U.S. intelligence agencies when it’s known that the president of the United States suffers no consequences when he simply unmasks our foreign intelligence allies because he bloviates and boasts ad naseum.
Curious minds want to know.
Scott
Scott, I like Trump because he is an old school progressive. A Teddy Roosevelt progressive. Progressivism has changed. Current progressivism calls for one world government with the negotiated elite making all of the decisions. Like the Democrats who rigged the primary for Hillary Clinton. Current progressivism really is socialism hiding under the name progressive. Current progressivism buys your vote, if you vote like them with free healthcare, free welfare, free food stamps. Current progressivism makes you a slave to their cause.
http://ashbrook.org/publications/oped-busch-05-progressivism/
The problem with current progressivism is it doesn’t know how to deal with the bullies of the world like Putin, Kim Jung-on, ISIS, Al Qaeda, and Iran’s Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei. These leaders know that current progressivism has a weakness and that is a willingness to negotiate. They hold countries hostage. Leaders like Obama, Merkel, and Corbyn of Great Britain will negotiate their economic independence away to maintain peace. Our allies like Trump because he won’t sit on his hands like Obama.
Sure Trump will be a one term president but he was the right man for the job at the right time. America was tired of being taxed to fund the progressive agenda. Why work when you can fit into government assistance on one of many programs. The United States has 25% of the world’s wealth with Japan second at 9%. Current progressives see that 25% as spending money for their causes.
Scott, socialism doesn’t work. Just ask the many immigrants to America from Cuba, Venezuela, and Eastern Europe that gave it a try.
Now for your answer. I have worked in the intelligence community. Good intelligence is good intelligence. They may keep their sources from you if they don’t trust you. Our foreign partners have never been able to trust us. I had two top secret code word reports end up on the front page of the Washington Post. I can’t tell you the international ramifications of those leaked reports. US Marshals paid me a visit. detained me for 48 hours. Finally the leak was discovered at the White House. That was 1980. The thing about human intelligence is that you know your life is on the line every single minute because someone leaked intelligence. This post will get data mined and stored. Someone might unmask us reading it. When people like Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Barak Obama come into office you either find a new line of work or a safer assignment. Danger comes with the job and yes human intelligence spies are paid well.
Trump not finishing his term is a good bet. The good news is Mike Pence is waiting in the wings.Trump will force future politicians to work together because they will feel pain of a populist president. It will sting in the memory for years to come. Every once in a while the body can use a good enema, Trump is just what the doctor ordered.
Daryl Hensley Jasper, IN
Daryl,
I am guilty of steering the discussion in directions I wasn’t interested in exploring. What you take as Trump triumphs, I regard as failures. Nothing new in that. The nuances in the permutations of socialism vis a vis progressivism during the entire twentieth century in this country and in Europe? A wonderful subject for late night argument. However . . .
I was simply interested in plumbing to see if there were indications of any intellectual honesty amongst Trump backers regarding the ever unwinding events of the past week. I hope you take it as a compliment that I think you have that level of honesty.
To me, the election of Donald Trump has been a kind of heart attack to this country and to its constitution. It’s been a code red for the Democrats and the Republicans, but the country will survive it, and, with luck, be better for it.
I’m hopeful the remaining Trump backers can cast aside the distractions to acknowledge this fact.
Two points of order:
1.) As someone formerly involved in the intelligence world, what excuse can you offer to explain a president divulging “code word” level intelligence to substantiate a gratuitous boast that “he gets great great intel?” It boggles the mind.
2.) I dread Mike Pence more than Donald Trump. Pence has no core of convictions other than those that advance his own political career. The national press has portrayed him as being the “adult in the room.” He is not. His goal is to be seen as the most pious person in the room. Growing up Catholic, I learned at an early age to despise those Matthew 6 hypocrites. As an attorney in his administration, I can tell you that he has been given multiple opportunities to act on his faith, He failed miserably at every turn. Governor Eric Holcomb has been a Godsend.
Four months ago George Will questioned his political courage. Three days ago Jonah Goldberg posed the same question. Pence’s behavior since the inauguration, and especially during the past two weeks or so, lead inevitably to the conclusion that he is wholly incapable of rising above political flackery.
Has anyone told him that the most recent VP’s who have been successively elected to the presidency have been George H.W. Bush and, I think, Millard Fillmore?
Scott,
“To me, the election of Donald Trump has been a kind of heart attack to this country and to its constitution. It’s been a code red for the Democrats and the Republicans, but the country will survive it, and, with luck, be better for it.”
We agree on this point.
Two points of order:
1.) As someone formerly involved in the intelligence world, what excuse can you offer to explain a president divulging “code word” level intelligence to substantiate a gratuitous boast that “he gets great great intel?” It boggles the mind.
I can tell you that that quote is taken out of context. It was the intent of the administration, (Trump, McMaster and Tillerson) to share the intelligence with the Soviets on the lap top bombs, which actually brought down a Russian civilian jet in 2015. Both McMaster and Tillerson say that no sources or methods were revealed. The leak to the NY times involved a heads up to the FBI and CIA that the intelligence was shared. The leaker, who wanted to embarrass the president embellished the additional information.
2.) I dread Mike Pence more than Donald Trump. Pence has no core of convictions other than those that advance his own political career.
You don’t understand how Pence governs. He believe it is the sole purpose of government to protect the nation or state, negotiate international/interstate commerce, punish lawlessness, and be fiscally conservative. He believes in states rights and small government with local government being more important than state government and state government being more important than federal government.
Progressives think that federal government is the problem solver of everything.
The State of Indiana wanted to give Jasper a $1M to redo the downtown square if the put up the rest of the money to redo the square. The council just said no. The taxpayers of Indiana just got a $1M budget surplus. Why is it good to take money from the citizens of Indiana to rebuild a our square? It’s not.
Scott you’re a likable guy. We could probably drink a beer and break bread together but we differ on how to spend money. I prefer to let the citizens of Indiana keep their money and use it for their own needs. You prefer to take a portion of their money for “their common good” and spend it to benefit citizens all over the state. that works for road infrastructure, judicial/law enforcement and school construction and even taking care of the indigent but it is not fair to do large expensive infrastructure projects like the Jasper Square or the Colt’s stadium or dolling out our surplus to aid those that don’t plan well or save well to redo their old buildings.
Granted the council in Jasper may change their mind because it might cost them an election if they don’t but I applaud political courage to vote for what we need and not what we want.
Daryl Hensley, Jasper
Daryl, you forgot to mention that…..
– Trump has strengthened our middle-eastern ties with our allies, including Israel (which Obama had betrayed at least two times).
– Trump has gotten China to start imposing some economic sanctions against North Korea.
– Trump has shown the world that we won’t be pushed around anymore by retaliating after a “red line” has been crossed by striking a Syrian airbase.
Furthermore, Mr. Newton, just because the Washington Post prints ONE story without naming any LEGITIMATE sources does NOT make their story factual. WHO said WHAT to WHOM? The American people want to hear FACTS, not hear-say or even “made up lies”. Just because the Washington Post prints it, does NOT make it so.
I still have not heard anyone name even ONE impeachable act that Trump has done.
Wake up, whoever you are. If you haven’t got the mental acuity to put this all together, let me do it for you: These leaks are coming from within the administration. Thank God for anonymous leakers. Thank God for a vigorous press. Thank God for an independent judiciary. Otherwise, we’re on our way to becoming the Philippines.
It’s odd, though, Mr. “Silent Majority,” hearing you criticize anonymous sources. Where’s your courage? Who in the hell are you?
In my opinion, you’re a coward. Put up or shut up.
Scott Newton
Silent Majority: Amen Brother
Comrade “Silent Majority,”
It’s comforting to know that there still exist comrades like yourself who will stand up for Chairman Trump! Death to the Washington Post! Death to the fake media!
In all sincerity, your comments don’t mention a response.
And “Tom.” Again, God bless you, may man. Might you consider picking up a hobby?
Scott
Dear, dear “Tom.” May God bless you, my son, and may He someday give you the courage to reveal who you really are.
Comrade Newton (I’m no more of a comrade than YOU are), it’s not that I blindly “stand up” for ANYONE, it’s that everyone else seems to assume guilt by unconfirmed “leaks” from 3rd party, nameless sources (whom commit felonies by leaking such matter). These are NOT facts! They’re political BS in most cases used to “tarnish” one’s reputation or intent.
Most Americans (none Democrat) can see right through the smoke and mirrors. Don’t YOU want to know the facts? Don’t YOU want to know WHO said WHAT to WHOM? Don’t YOU want to know who is committing the REAL felony here by “leaking” or “fabricating” these accusations? It would appear that facts would only get in the way of the Democrats agenda of smearing the POTUS.
Keep in mind that NO ONE wins when a country is divided. Shame on the Democrats for striving to keep America divided (including their Resistance Movement). Suck up your Hillary loss and put on your “big boy” pants and lets ALL move on to make America great again together!
Just to recount the series of events so far.
The FBI was investigating X’s campaign colluding with Russia.
X fires the director of the FBI because of his investigation.
X has a meeting with Russia the day after the firing and shares classified information.
X asked the FBI to drop the investigation multiple times and inquired about jailing the press.
Replace X with anyone, Democrat or Republican and I would be behind them either being impeached or resigning from office. Everything except the last statement has been plainly verified and the last one has a lot of evidence from several sources.
I am tired of people arguing about prosecuting Obama or Hillary and using it as an excuse. Scandals related to them were thoroughly investigated and the decision was made not to prosecute. Besides, neither of them is in control anymore (unless you are a crazy conspiracy theorist who believes in a shadow government). For the purpose of this commentary I am ignoring both the far right crazy theories and the far left crazy theories and focusing on what we know from above. I am absolutely sure if Hillary Clinton had done the exact same things mentioned above, the Republicans would be calling for impeachment.
If you look at the things that Trump has done so far, almost any Republican would have done the same. Maybe the supreme court justice would not be Neil Gorsuch, but it would be a well respected conservative. It was obvious that the healthcare bill passed was not Trump’s, but the House’s bill. Deregulation was also a long time goal of Republicans. The travel ban might never have occurred, but it has hardly been in effect (with apparently no consequence as we have not had any major terrorist attacks recently).
Foreign countries were already worried about Trump and to have this Trump divulging information to Russia thing just adds another layer of mistrust with our allies. Honestly the only thing I think Trump brings which another Republican would not is his ability to troll and infuriate liberals, which I know a lot of his fans love after feeling that they have been trolled by Obama for so many years.
Unfortunately trolling does not help to mend wounds and when the country is so divided it only helps to cement the idea that when another Democratic president comes along they will immediately undo all the reforms The Donald has done.
I know there are some people who think Donald is playing 8 dimensional chess with everyone, but I do believe in the end it will be revealed who he actually is, a narcissist with a poor government background who is unable to manage an entire government or even a White House. Sometimes what you see is exactly what you get.
On a side note, I see some commentary about Democrats wanting pure socialism. This is definitely not true, even Obamacare is far from pure socialism. There are plenty of advanced countries around the globe who have better healthcare systems than we do in terms of most major indicators and most of some hybrid system with universal basic healthcare guaranteed by the government and supplements provided by corporations. The resulting costs are split between the government, the private industry, and individuals, but everyone is required to buy into the system and every corporation is required to buy into the system. When everyone buys in, the cost goes down for everyone except the healthiest. You might say that the healthiest get nothing from this system, but if you suddenly go from healthy to sick as some people do, you will be glad there is support present. Plus this frees corporations from the burdensome task of finding and dealing with insurance, it eliminates insurance company profits and most importantly eliminates the huge medical debt/bankruptcy industry, which unless you are heartless will be glad to see go. There are systems in the world that have better care and better wait times than the US on average and those systems should be studied and utilized not rejected because of ideology. Can
Finally, I would really love to see evidence based government instead of an ideological based governing. If socialism produces better results in a particular area of governing as determined by the evidence use it. If market solutions are better, then use the market, but do research into both systems for a solution as well as hybridizations and see what works with experimental evidence.
Mathew,
Thank you for an honest assessment. I may not agree with everything you say, but I respect you for your intellectual honesty.

Thanks Dr Moss !!!
I like the way you think Mr. Mauntel. We all want the best for our country and sometimes that will require thinking outside the box. It is not fair for the rich to get richer and the poor/middle class struggle to make a living. We all know that triple down economics does NOT work….we all deserve the American Dream….whatever that means to each of us.
Friends or at least – fellow Americans. Admittedly I took a friends comments and incorporated a lot of it into my letter regarding impeachment. Didn’t take time to research all the facts as I was busy boarding a flight to Europe. Just so upset with the lies that #45 spews forth. Hard to believe just a few months ago I was promoting and voting for the man. HRC was a weak candidate, but so was DJT. I do feel betrayed by DJT and the republicans. Promises and the lies…… He was going to go after HRC by appointing a special prosecutor – didn’t happen; was going to push term limits for congress – never a mention..; Mexico was going to pay for the wall, yeah right…said he will release tax returns – won’t happen; will increase ICE agents (froze hiring); increase penalties for expired visas – no mention; end anchor babies – Bull S; heavy fines for employers that hire aliens or illegal aliens before Americans- oh, suddenly, not good for business –greed is a priority. As for me, I’m just an American born on a farm in mid America, an Eisenhower republican, a Kennedy democrat who don’t like liars of which most politicians fitting the mold. Don’t like tax and spend democrats or borrow and spend republicans; don’t like family dynasties like Bushes or Clintons; like to protect the environment, but do not like giving aid to foreign countries. I do like the health care system in the Netherlands and Japan. Strong supporter of NATO and our Europeans allies. Don’t trust motives of Russia or Israel or Saudis or Iranians. Conservative or Liberal, most folks don’t even have a clue of what that defines. Alt Left, Alt Right who cares, skin heads …all. Don’t like abortionists (murderers), nor like the billions of our taxes being given to Israelis who indirectly with our dollars, give out free abortions to anyone who asks. Yet Republicans want to defund Planned Parenthood. Hypocrites All. Again I reiterate…DJT needs to step aside or get impeached or the congress needs to invoke Amendment 25 of the Constitution of the United States, as DJT is mentally incompetent. He definitely needs a mental health exam. He is making not America great again. He is making the United States the laughing stock of the world. The Alt Right loves to call their fellow citizens that don’t agree with them names, like Progressive hack or Liberal assholes. They seem to be incapable of honest debate. Yes I am a conservative Democrat, no I am a liberal Republican…how stupid…who cares? I’m just a Midwest farm boy, An American who loves my country and hate to see it being overran by political terrorists, mostly by Alt Rightists who worship American Nazism and the Timothy McVeigh types.. Obviously, our politicians love their power much more than their country. Call me what you want, just don’t call me anti-American. Yes, I do watch too much C-Span, because I don’t need some politically motivated commentator at FOX or MSNBC to tell me how to think.
