Letter: Liberal heads explode after Trump victory
It has been entertaining to watch leftists flailing hysterically since the election of Donald Trump. Their contempt for their country and the democratic process could not be more obvious. And nowhere in the media, the academia, or the Democrat Party, is there even a trace of soul searching or acknowledgment of possible miscues under President Barack Hussein Obama or the Hillary Clinton campaign.
In the face of Trump’s historic upset victory, the loss of traditional blue states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, and Republican control of both houses of Congress, the left responds as they always have, by mindlessly burping out yet more insults and slurs against Trump and his supporters – those millions of Americans who had once been the backbone of the Democrat party.
The left wing media, in particular, has been apoplectic. They are now an openly corrupt institution that has long since given up the pretense of objectivity. Instead of government watchdog and pillar of democracy charged with overseeing government, the press has become an arm of the government and propaganda wing of the Democrat Party. They exist to flatter one another and advance the PC, leftist narrative.
The newsflash is they no longer matter. Reduced to the status of annoying left wing hecklers, they influence no one beyond a shrinking slice of Americans who read the New York Times. Their power to sway the outcome of elections has ended. The wicked witch is dead. Hail to Dorothy! This is great news for the country.
The left didn’t see the wave coming that would inundate them. Their inflated self-regard and contempt for the great unwashed and their quaint notions of nationhood made it impossible for them to recognize it. They didn’t see it in Germany, France and throughout Europe. They didn’t see it in the UK and Brexit. And they didn’t see it in the U.S.
Americans, like most Europeans, reject transnational globalism, and the effort underway to repeal national identity and culture. Most people, unlike leftists, admire their national history, language and culture and want to preserve them. They also want to maintain their borders. They reject PC tyranny and identity politics that balkanize the country. They shun victimhood and “multiculturalism.” They abhor the pagan Marxist effort to purge differences between the sexes for the benefit of tiny, perpetually aggrieved sexual minorities. They repudiate amnesty, sanctuary cities, Obamacare, and the war on fossil fuels. They reject Syrian Muslim refugees, fake “hate-crimes,” and bad trade deals. They have also had it with being called racist, sexist bigots because they oppose transgendered bathrooms and mass third world immigration.
But the angry left lashes out. The ones who whined about Trump not accepting the results of the election are now denying the legitimacy of his victory. They demand recounts. They condemn the Electoral College. They harass electors. They engage in a moronic witch-hunt against Steve Bannon. They blame the Russians, “fake news,” and Jill Stein. They liken Trump to Hitler while worshipping Castro. George Soros-funded goons riot in the streets. Hollywood stars make fools of themselves. Infantile students demand “safe spaces.” And Democrats are poised to nominate radical, former Nation of Islam member, and anti-Semite, Keith Ellison as their leader. Learning nothing from their defeat, they move further to the left.
The alt-left, the media, and the Democrat Party see their country through the prism of bigotry and oppression. America, for them, is a sweltering cesspool of racism and intolerance. They are the army of saints that will cleanse the nation of its sins. Anyone opposing their noble efforts is by definition, a bigot. The one tool in their toolbox is to slander anyone disagreeing with their failed policies as racists, misogynists, or bigots. They can never grasp the good in America because they are blind to it. For them it is morally stained from its inception. They despise its founding, history, culture, and economic system. They loathe whites, Christians, and heterosexuals, and especially the reviled “straight, white male.” They denigrate coal miners, cops, and the military. But it is they who are the racists and bigots. And they wonder why they lost.
Here is some “real” news for the left. America is the greatest nation in the history of human civilization. It is the most tolerant and least racist country on earth. It embraces the individual, limited government, private property, religious freedom, and free markets. It is the pinnacle of western civilization and model for the rest of the world. If you live in this country, whoever you are, you have won life’s lottery. But the left will never see this.
My sympathies go out to the crazed, hysterical left. But after eight years of hardline Obamaism, the “deplorables” have had enough.
The joyous sound you hear ringing across the land is liberal heads exploding. What a festive season it has been.
Richard Moss MD
Jasper, Ind.

It’s heartening to see that some Trump supporters have put the election behind them and are attempting to bring some sense of unity to the country, which is what the country needs.
Unfortunately, Dr. Richard Moss is not one of them. Here we have another very immature screed from a bitter and frustrated individual who, no doubt, still ponders why he has been rejected for every public office he’s sought. One imagines the writer alone in a basement in the middle of the night, tapping furiously at his keyboard while cranking out tiresome slogans and shopworn phrases, smiling with satisfaction as his eyes bulge and his mouth froths like that of a mad dog. This seems more like a therapeutic exercise for the benefit of the writer than a piece worthy of serious consideration by the public. And to think that this guy’s candidate won.
This type of letter is reminiscent of the articles and tracts published by the Soviet apologists in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Relying on nothing but conclusory statements without benefit of any substantiated facts, these wind up dolls, on cue, spewed lies and distortions about all the real and imagined enemies who resided in their fevered psyches. We don’t need any more fellow travelers.
In the future, what we need is more independent thinking — not the lockstep devotion to one authoritarian. (It would be interesting to know if Dr. Moss has a favorable opinion of Vladimir Putin and his associates in the Kremlin.)
The election is in the past, and the public must now face forward and honestly judge whether Donald Trump will conform his conduct to match the promises he made during the campaign.
If Dr. Moss chooses to remain forever fixed in the past so as to continue his monomaniacal gloating, that is his choice. The rest of us trudge on, but by ignoring his sad little diatribes, the job becomes easier.
Scott Newton
Scott,
You seemed to have missed the point of Dr. Moss’s opinion piece entirely. Trump supporters are not the problem it is those who did not support Trump who are on the war path when he has not yet even begin to govern. The press is having a field day with the supposed actions he may take and the left is reeling with what he might possibly do without giving him a chance. Everything Dr. Moss said is correct, apparently you haven’t been keeping up with the lefts Trump hit pieces.
But I don’t think any of that is what your opinion piece is about anyway. It seems you wish to attack Dr. Moss personally. He is a published author, with one published book and another one to soon hit the shelves. He has been published in newspapers across the state. Not just in letters to the editor, but as a political columnist for over 10 years. So until you have those qualifications behind your name I don’t believe you have standing to judge his writing abilities.
You also attack his runs for office. Let me remind you that the majority of people who run for office run several times before they take home a victory. Reagan and Lincoln are two names that come to mind. It is also hard work, expensive and takes a great deal of commitment to run. I guess you are not very knowledgeable on that subject either.
Dr. Moss is a kind and generous person. He does not carry on airs like many doctors. He has worked tirelessly as a doctor in both the 9th and the 8th district of this state for over 20 years with satellite clinics in many small towns in Indiana. He was one of the original investors in the Jasper surgery center. He runs his own office and is directly responsible for many Jasper jobs. He also shops locally and uses local services, always putting back into the community through this, charity work and donations. He also works on call in the ER at Memorial. He gave 3 years of his life as a volunteer cancer surgeon over seas in undeveloped countries. We are lucky to have such a talented doctor and upstanding citizen in our community. It seems to me that your problem with him is that he loves America and wants to see it succeed. This country is much better served with more people like him.
They will let anybody rant a few lines and spout ignorance in the comment section of the opinion page. It is easy to arm chair quarterback , but there are fewer people like Dr. Moss who are putting in real world actions. He doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk. I would rather read the opinion of someone with real world experience who is knowledgeable in government and economics. You sir are the one who sits and home and types, he does.
You actually just furthered his message by personally attacking him. Gives me cause to ponder what you are compensating for. It is typical human psyche for someone to lash out at someone they find threatening or superior.
TJ,
Darn! You’re gong all Freudian on me.
Sorry. I just don’t feel threatened by the “superiority” of someone so transparently phony. It sounds as if you do. I’d seek professional help.
Moss is absolutely correct ????
Scott, Fantastic response to a pitiful letter from Moss. Not sure what the reply from Routson is saying.
Scott,

I prefer an opinion piece from someone with world experience and who is knowledgeable about government and economics. However, comments in letters to the editor let any Tom, Dick or Harry spout ignorance while they arm chair quarterback what people who actual know something think.
Comrade Smith,
Your are right. Everything Dr. Moss said is correct. Dr. Moss is always correct. I beg you please not report me to the commissar, comrade.
Look, you say nobody has standing to judge Dr. Moss’s writing. Really? In what country are we living, comrade? I could care less about his resume. When someone places his opinions in a public forum, he ought to be prepared to accept criticism. I have the impression that Dr. Moss and his ilk feel that they own cites like this one by dint of their high volume blather. Heretofore, nobody has bothered to challenge their bullying. Well, I’ve got news for you. The emperor has no clothes. In my opinion, Dr. Moss’s writing is pretentious tripe. It’s the kind of mindless sloganeering that thinking people abhor. It could come from the right or from the left. It makes no difference. It’s inferior writing, and inferior writing means inferior thinking.
You assert that any “Tom, Dick, or Harry” can submit a letter to the editor. I agree. Dr. Moss’s puerile rant is exhibit number one.
I don’t know if you consider yourself a strong proponent of law and order. If you do, you realize that Mr. Trump is already in violation of the Logan Act, which makes it a crime for common citizens, including presidents elect, to engage in U.S. foreign policy. Our country speaks with one voice — and that is the voice of the president. And until January 20th, Barack Obama is the president of the United States. Mr. Trump’s juvenile and embarrassing tweets questioning forty years of China policy and a nuclear arms race threaten the security of the country. We cannot be sending out conflicting messages.
If you already knew this, your silence has been deafening, and you ought to be ashamed. If you’ve just learned of this now (as I suspect), your silence will be deafening.
Mr. Newton’s reply together with that Strange second is but further proof that Dr. Moss is spot-on the mark. Nice analysis, Doc – if sad but true.
Green, maybe you should get out more and try to read, not just GOP or DEM. Try to read what all of the professional are documenting. May widen your ideas and thoughts.
I voted for Trump because I like many were attracted to his rhetoric. .. BUT
Israel aggravates the other nations of the Middle East and the rest of the world by illegally building peace destroying “settlements” on occupied Palestinian lands because with a true peace in the Middle East, Israel would find it much harder to get billions in free American aid. Just a couple of months ago, the USA promised the State of Israel $38 billion dollars. It is the biggest pledge of aid in US history. The US has to borrow the money just to give it away, yet we Republicans complain about our tremendous deficit. Just not Republican logic. The Israeli’s need billions of US taxpayer’s assistance in order for them to continue to give free health care and free college education to their citizens, (the US cannot afford for its own citizens). What logic is there that justifies such stupidity on the part of Americans. The “swamp infested” corrupt Congressmen and senators along with other bribed entities allow Israel to control US foreign policy which have cost the lives of so many good American Servicemen. The United States is right to question Israel’s desire to disrupt the peace process when they deny the two state peace solution agreed to by every President since Reagan.
If Americans truly believe in freedom, democracy and self-determination, the United States of America, as the world’s beacon of democracy, should support the Palestine people and their right of self-determination and desire for basic human rights. We need to join the rest of the world in condemning Israel’s illegal enslavement and subjugation activities. Netanyahu’s ultra-right wing administration of Israel gets upset and demands that the US go against the opinion of the whole world using its veto power to defend their illegal actions in Palestine. Mr. Trump promised to drain the D.C. swamp. I reckon only time will tell if he was really honest to the American people or just a showman. Recent remarks make it appear that Mr. Trump is putting Israel’s selfish interests before that of Americas. So far, it doesn’t look good. I hope for my country’s sake, I am wrong. I do pray Mr. Trump will be a good President.

No heads exploding here, more like SMH
Wow! Can’t we all just get along as Americans? Some of the above comments are uncalled for. Mr. Newton, you might want to sharpen your sarcasm skills a bit more because they often cross over the line and become down right “mean & hurtful”, and often unfounded. Unless this is your intent, of course. If “We the People..” can’t get along, how is the rest of the world supposed to? Have a Happy & Peaceful New Year!
To Dan Barrett: Arab Sunni nations are allying with Israel covertly because they trust Israel more than the US under Obama, who has stabbed them in the back while doing the same to Israel. Perhaps you have missed that. They fear radical Iran and his proxies (who are supported by Obama) far more than Israel. They also fear ISIS. Israel is a stabilising force in the ME and the most powerful nation in the region who can help them to defend themselves. They trust Israel over the US under Obama and Iran. Further, why do you want to create another terrorist Arab nation in the Middle East, don’t we have enough? The PLO/Hamas is ISIS with good press. They are arch terrorists who will create a terrorist state. The Palestinians danced, sang, and celebrated when 3000 Americans burned to death on 9/11. They were happy about it. No where else did that occur. Not in China or Russia or Iran. But it did amongst the Palestinians. Yet you seem to support the terrorists who danced as Americans burned to death over the sole democracy in the Middle East. Of all the really sick countries around the world with abysmal human rights records and no democracy or freedom, such as Syria, Libya, North Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, and others, you choose to attack the one Jewish state and the sole democracy in the region, a beacon of light in a truly insane area, a beacon of democracy, rights and freedoms for the entire world, rights that are non-existent amongst the Arab Jihadist barbarians you seem to admire so much.
