Letter: It’s time to get free of the Trumpists
In 1998 Republicans gleefully impeached Bill Clinton for conduct, which while hardly honorable, presented no threat to the rule of law, to the integrity of the democratic election process, to the freedom of the press, or to the Constitutionally defined separation of powers. His conduct invited no toxic foreign actors into the Oval Office and promoted no domestic cast of supporting characters who were devoted to self-interest above national interest.
Today’s Republicans, however, either enthusiastically support the current perversion of the Great American Experiment or lie supine before the Trumpist asssault.
The last politician on the American political scene to claim for himself such powers and privileges as we are now witnessing and to express such contempt for the American political process and the majority of its citizens was King George III. Among other “abuses and usurpations” as the Declaration of Independence calls them, are listed in that same document the following grievances:
“He has obstructed the Administration of justice by refusing his Assent to establish Judiciary Powers.”
“He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the tenure of their offices and the amount and payment of their salaries.”
“He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these states; for that purpose obstructing the laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migration hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of land.”
“He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us.”
He has “cut off our Trade with all parts of the world.”
He has employed tactics “for the sole purpose of fatiguing us into compliance.”
The redress of these and other grievances is that to which the real-life flesh and blood founding fathers pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honors.
The language of the Declaration of Independence may seem quaint to the modern ear, and conditions, of course, are today much different. The aspirations and methods of kings and king wannabes, however, remain distressingly similar over the centuries.
It’s time to get independent of the Trumpists, all of them.

That’s hilarious. So you’re saying that Bill Clinton’s affairs INSIDE the White House shouldn’t have gotten him impeached… But Democrats are now saying that Trump’s actions in regards to paying off porn stars are grounds for impeachment?

Hillary Clinton’s Crimes
1. Destroyed classified information to obstruct justice.
2. Broke the law by having classified information on a personal unsecured computer.
3. Started a foundation that accepted money from foreign governments for personal favors.
4. Colluded with Russians to publish a false dossier on her political opponent then gave it to the FBI to start the whole Russian collusion investigation. Then leaked it to her democratic friends and media to whip up political support for impeachment.
Trump is a narcissist, thin skinned, womanizer. His policies have been great for our country but Republicans will continue to vote for him until Hillary is “Locked Up!” However we have a great plan B…President Mike Pence. Be careful what you wish for.

What presidency has not been a soap opera ? I’ll just sit back an watch the show, including all the sideline generals ! Lets talk religion too ! How about that no-good neighbor of yours ? I sense Ms. Tangeman is fearful of this November and/or of the 2020 political process that takes place. Many are exhibiting this behavior now that Welfare is being curtailed and along with Common sense being displayed in Washington for once. If you have Any knowledge of the history of our nation, you will find that it was Tariffs that help build this nation. As businesses are returning to this country and New businesses are being established, it is beginning to reflect when this nation was the Leader in Many categories and the world wanted a piece of THAT action. Wanted a piece of the pie so to speak. Tariffs played a big part. Our POTUS is and has been tired and fed up with past administrations GIVING the world a bigger portion and Not paying for it. We have slipped in the leadership role in many areas but that now is starting to turn around and You don’t like it, Ms. Tangeman?? I have just touched on a small part President Trump has done but the lack of understanding still compels you to rebel. Why is that ?

I’ve decided to not vote on anything until he’s out of office. I didn’t like his TV shows and don’t like him. I’m having a hard time respecting the office he holds but maybe Mike Pence would be better.
This says all we need to know about Mike Pence:
“He was no fan of Obamacare: when it passed, he likened the blow to 9/11.”
He later “took back” his statement. But his moral compass is clearly needing a major adjustment.
