Leonard L. “Buck” Borman, 86, Huntingburg, passed away at 12:28 a.m., on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg, Indiana. 

He was born March 23, 1930, in rural Huntingburg to Henry W. and Mary Ella (Sunderman) Borman.

Buck attended grade school in Duff and graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1948. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.

On June 26, 1954, Buck married Mary Elizabeth Gasser at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

In 1961, he graduated with a Pharmacology degree from Butler University. He worked as a pharmacist at Kiesling’s Drug Store in Huntingburg for four years, at Stork Memorial Hospital as an administrative assistant, at the Huntingburg Clinic as pharmacy manager for 12 to 14 years, and then proceeded to open the Ferdinand Pharmacy and Jasper Pharmacy, which he owned and operated. He sold his businesses and semi-retired as a pharmacist at CVS until his permanent retirement in 2010.

Buck enjoyed farming and joked that he became a pharmacist in 1961 but was a farmer since 1930.

Mr. Borman was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Y.M.I. Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Indiana Pharmaceutical Association, the American Pharmaceutical Association, the Jasper American Legion, and was a life-member of V.F.W. Post #2366 in Huntingburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Borman, who died June 3, 2014; one sister, Anna Mae Lehmkuhler; and one brother, James Borman. 

He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Edward R. (Carol) Borman of Dunedin of Florida and Brian L. Borman of Huntingburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Marie (Garry) Sauley of Greensburg, Ind. and Paula A. Borman of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Bennie Lee Borman of Indianapolis and Danny R. Borman of Ferdinand; one sister, Lou Dittmer of Huntingburg; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with two additional great-grandchildren on the way.

Funeral services for Leonard L. “Buck” Borman will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail assisted by members of the Jasper American Legion.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. The YMI Club will conduct a vigil service at 7:00 p.m., EDT, Friday, at the funeral home.
