LaVerne Eugenia Kieffner, 67, Jasper, passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, December 23, 2013, at 6:03 p.m. after a two year battle with cancer.

She was surrounded by her family at home. LaVerne was born October 9, 1946, in Ireland to Albert and Madeline (Mehringer) Keusch. She was a spunky and radiant woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was adored by her family and will be missed as a mother, grandmother, friend, beautician (or hair magician), and woman of God.

LaVerne accepted her battle courageously and encouraged others even in the midst of her struggle.

She is loved by her children, Chad Kieffner and wife Lisa, Stacy Lindauer and husband Shane, and Tara Popp and husband Brad, all of Jasper. She was “Grams” to seven grandchildren: Caroline, Nicholas, and Kate Kieffner, Luke, Emma, and Maddie Popp, and Tyler Lindauer. Her surviving siblings include: Ronald Keusch and wife Dellie, Judy Freyberger and husband Larry, John Keusch and wife Betty, all of Jasper, Gene Keusch and wife Helen, Huntingburg, and sister-n-law, Dorothy Keusch of Jasper.

She was preceded in death by brother, Ralph Keusch, and parents Albert & Madeline Keusch of Jasper.

LaVerne worked many years as a Cosmetologist. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Jasper DeutscherVerein, and ROJAC. She was also a past member and officer of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and Jasper High School PTO.

The funeral will be Saturday, December 28th, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ireland. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27th at Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubois County Museum, or to a favorite charity.
