Larry Hochmeister, 71

Larry Hochmeister, 71, passed away at 9:27 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
Larry was born in Huntingburg on February 28, 1946, to Lewis and Edna (Jones) Hochmeister. He married Kris Elliott on June 23, 1973, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.
Larry was a 1964 graduate of Huntingburg High School and was a 1977 graduate of Purdue University. He was a United States Army veteran, who served and was wounded during Vietnam. He previously worked in purchasing at Masterbrand Cabinets for 19 years, and most recently has been a wood products sales representative for Mears Quality Products for over 15 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Post #673. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bicycling, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kris Hochmeister of Jasper; two daughters, Lisa Valle (Laurent) of Fishers and Jayme Roos of Jasper; one son, Nick Hochmeister (Jenna) of Evansville; seven grandchildren; one sister, Retta Ferguson (Irvin) of Greensburg, Ind.; one brother, Gordon Hochmeister (Jean) of Washington.
Preceding him in death are one sister, Jan Blackgrove, and two brothers, Fred and Noble Hochmeister.
A service for Larry Hochmeister will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Mayo Cemetery in Duff, Indiana. The V.F.W. Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites.
A visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dubois County Community Foundation/Elliott Family Endowment, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.

He was a part of the music group, “the Wylds”, too! Just an all-round great guy!

As a teenager in Jasper, I knew Larry. We were both bass-players, and he used to “talk bass” with me. He even let me borrow his bass amp on multiple occasions. I remember Larry as a very nice person and, of course, he WAS the bass player for The Wylds!! My condolences to his family.
My apologies and condolences once again to the Hochmeiser family. I and many others have many find memories of experiencing the Wylds a Calumet Lake Pavilion in Jasper, IN. However, I realize that I made a mistake in my previous post, as the bass player for the band was Larry Mills. I truly apologize for my error.
