Juveniles found shooting streetlights out in Jasper
Jasper Police Department was called to the report of two subjects shooting at streetlights at about 4:30 a.m. Friday.
According to police, they made contact with two juveniles in the area of 13th and Mill streets who had BB guns in their possession and had shot out two streetlights.
The juveniles’ guns closely resembled authentic firearms. The department warned that the public should be careful when rendering articles that so authentically resemble actual firearms.
Charges are pending against the two juveniles and the investigation is ongoing.

Isn’t an air (BB, pellet) gun considered a variation of a firearm or weapon? They are in many if not most cities from a discharging statute, but maybe Jasper aligns with the Stuckey philosophy. To me, besides the malicious vandalism damage, discharging a firearm within city limits seems appropriate also. Amen, Joe and Carol.
