Graveside services and burial of John E. Schitter, 67, of Haysville, who passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020, at home, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery on Washington Street in Huntingburg, Indiana.
John Edward “Cigar” Schitter, 67, of Haysville, passed away peacefully at home at 11:40 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020.

John was born in Jasper on June 21, 1952, to Aloysius and Mabell (Dorsem) Schitter. He married Rose Kelley on December 3, 1983, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dubois.
John enjoyed truck driving and spending time with his family especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. John was a truck driver for 44 years. He drove for Jasper Plant Foods, Jasper Leasing, and Roark Trucking. He was a member of the Jasper Outdoor Recreation Center, the Ireland Sportsman Club, and the Jasper Moose Lodge #1175.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rose Schitter of Haysville; one stepson, Dave (Carol) Jellison of St. Anthony; three grandsons, Craig (Whitney) Jellison of Loogootee, Kyle Jellison of St. Anthony, and Eric (Valerie) Jellison of Birdseye; five great-grandkids, Brooklyn, Alexis, Waylon Jellison all of Birdseye; Ava and Evan Jellison, both of Loogootee; two sisters, Kathy (Allen) Schneider and Patty (Duane) Scherle, and three brothers, Mike (Debbie) Schitter, Butch Schitter, and Ron (Sharlene) Schitter.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Aloysius and Mabell Schitter, and two sisters Maggy Clark and Cindy Schitter.
Graveside services for John Edward “Cigar” Schitter will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St Judes Children’s Hospital.
