Jasper police seeking crash witnesses
The Jasper Police Department is seeking witnesses to a crash that occurred Thursday afternoon that sent one person to the hospital for injuries and totaled two vehicles.
According to police, Bradley Epple, 31, Jasper, was westbound on Sixth Street waiting at the stop signal to turn his 2007 Mercury Mountaineer left onto Truman Road when the light changed from green to red. Epple told police his vehicle was in the intersection so he proceeded with the turn to clear the intersection. Epple said that as he turned left, Brooke E. Scheeter, 24, Jasper, who was driving eastbound on Sixth Street, ran the red light and crashed her 2015 Lexus CT2 into his vehicle.
Scheeter told police that the light turned from green to yellow as she was traveling through the intersection and Epple pulled his vehicle into her path.
Epple was taken to Memorial Hospital for undisclosed injuries.
Both vehicles were considered totaled.
The Jasper Police Department is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them at 812-482-2255 and ask for Sgt. Bower or leave a voicemail for him.

Surprised that with all of today’s technology…getting smaller, less-expensive, all-HD, and used for/in/at nearly everything these days…that major and/or other high-travel or unusually configured intersections (like this one) don’t have cameras. Not talking the red-light (“gotcha”) cameras, which are controversial as to their constitutionality, but for when accidents or other incidents occur to review.
Sounds like maybe he tried to flame through the tail-end of the yellow light, to avoid the red light, so he couldn’t have stopped in time to avoid hitting her as he headed towards her.
Everyone needs front & rear dash cams these days!
