Jasper police release more information about burglaries

UPDATE: (October 29) Jasper police have released more information about the five burglaries that occurred last week.
One of the businesses is reporting a large amount of $2 bills being stolen.
In addition the reward for information has been increased. The Community Strike Force Against Crime is now offering $1500 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person(s) involved in the five burglaries.

UPDATE: According to Jasper Detective Rick Chambers, a fifth burglary is being included in the four burglaries that have been reported this week.
Denny’s Auto was broken into sometime between business closing Monday evening and Tuesday morning along with the three business first reported.
“We are sure this burglary was from the same group,” he said on Friday.
Police aren’t releasing many details on the burglaries or items being taken to avoid compromising the investigation, but Chambers is reminding citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities, especially at night.
Chambers stated Jasper has increased the amount of police officers patrolling at night and the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department is also increasing vigilance in the area.
The department even stopped the Google Street View car that was in the area the past week but, according to Chambers, the driver had a clean record.
The five businesses burglarized this week include Denny’s Auto, Schmidt Contracting, R & P Auto and Truck Repair, Paul’s Custom Auto and Grand Rental Station.

October 25 Update: Police suspect the same individuals involved in three burglaries on Tuesday night broke into another Jasper business overnight.
Between closing hours on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, Schmidt Contracting was broken into and an undisclosed amount of cash or property was stolen. The suspects may be using crow or pry bars to enter the businesses.
Police are asking that residents remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity they might see, especially during the night.

I think the motivator for this rash of burglaries is Meth, not Maps…but at least they are doing their due diligence.
