Jasper Mayor rescinds emergency declaration for fire ban
Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz rescinded the city’s emergency declaration of local emergency in regards to the burn ban.
The burn ban has been in affect since June and led to the rescheduling of the Strassenfest Fireworks display originally scheduled for the July 4.
The city has not loosened restriction on the watering of yards, washing of vehicles or exterior surfaces of residences and businesses. Currently residents and businesses can water yards, gardens and wash vehicles on days corresponding with their address number. If it is an odd numbered address those activities can occur on odd numbered days of the month; even addresses can do so on even days of the month. The washing of exterior surfaces (sidewalks, driveways and building surfaces) is still banned at this time. (Story here)
The Strassenfest Committee has tentatively scheduled the fireworks display for the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. (Story here)
The City is reminding citizens to be aware of local ordinances regarding outdoor and refuse burning within the city of Jasper.
