Jasper K-Mart included in list of closures as part of Sears bankruptcy
The K-Mart store in Jasper is on a long list of stores that plan to close nationwide as part of the Sears bankruptcy deal, according to multiple national news organizations. The Jasper store is located at 723 3rd Avenue.
A manager at K-Mart in Jasper told WITZ Radio News they had not heard anything from the company about the reported closure.
Liquidation sales at the additional stores are expected to begin within two weeks, according to a court filing released Monday.
“As we look toward the holiday season, Sears and Kmart stores remain open for business and our dedicated associates look forward to serving our members and customers,” Sears chairman Eddie Lampert said in a statement.

Get real, “chairman Eddie” – who are you kidding? Not your “dedicated associates” who will in fact have a difficult challenge to “look toward the holiday season” knowing they’ll need to find another job. Shame.
For goodness sake, you just can’t say anything positive can you? At least these “dedicated associates” will have a job over the holidays.
This isn’t a surprise to many. This has been in the works for a long time. It’s a shame it is happening, but sometimes companies go out of business. also remember that not all stores are closing. Mr. Lambert has to keep the ones not losing their job in mind.
Well expect everything at Walmart to go though the roof (prices)
The Jasper K-mart has been dead for years now. The lack of a heart beat has just caught up to the fact.
Ima Ruth Green, the crack shot on bad news. Anyone who can read a newspaper knew Sears was going to die. The longtime employees there will easily get a job at any of the several retail businesses in Jasper. And good luck to them by the way!
