Jasper doctor’s plea agreement in narcotics case accepted

A Jasper doctor arrested in 2016 on charges of dealing and possession of narcotics was remanded to the Dubois County Security Center today to begin his sentence after the Dubois County Superior Court accepted a plea agreement.

Michael S. Love, 50, of Gun Club Road, was arrested in August of 2016 on a Level 2 felony count of dealing in a narcotic drug and a Level 5 felony count of illegal possession of a narcotic drug. All the charges involve the prescription medication oxycodone

Under the plea agreement, Love’s charges were reduced to three Level 6 felony counts of illegally possessing a narcotic drug and he was sentenced by Judge Mark McConnell to 365 days in jail with 730 days under supervised probation.

Under the agreement, the convictions will be entered as Class A misdemeanors.

  2. We have an opioid crisis and we shouldn’t be letting dealers off so light. Guarantee the heroin users that were the subject of the article about Ares and his Manic Monday (btw, good work there to our 4 legged friend and his officer/handler!) will have the full force of the law thrown at them. Since this guy has money, he’s now officially only a user and not a pusher?!?!? This is not justice or beneficial to society or the community in any way.
