Jasper Comprehensive Plan process to kickoff during Strassenfest
The City of Jasper has launched the next phase of the update of the comprehensive plan.
Branded as “Impact Jasper” citizens are invited to take part in the process through the recently launched website, future meetings, surveys and an informational booth at the Jasper Strassenfest.
A comprehensive plan is designed to be a guiding tool for a community’s long-term future. The articulation of the community’s vision will be documented as part of the Impact Jasper Comprehensive Plan, which is anticipated to be finalized and adopted in August of 2019. The plan will identify a vision for the future, as well as goals, policies, and action steps to guide growth, development and community character.
A community-wide steering committee was formed and they held their first meeting in June. This group will continue to meet throughout the process. A consultant team, led by Taylor Siefker Williams Design Group and including Thomas P. Miller and Associates as well as Midwestern Engineers will be aiding the city in facilitating this planning effort. The team has begun to collect base information, and will formally launch the planning effort on Thursday, August 2nd at Strassenfest. The City will be hosting an Impact Jasper booth where residents and attendees can learn more about the plan, gather information about how to get involved and stay updated, and even provide initial input through various visioning exercises.
Residents of all ages, business owners, property owners, and other interested parties are invited to stop by the booth at Strassenfest between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. All community members are invited to provide initial input into their vision for the future of Jasper as part of this kick-off event.
“The development of the plan relies heavily on feedback and input from citizens, and we want to hear about what is important to you,” stated Mayor Terry Seitz.
This kick-off event will be one of many opportunities to stay involved and connected through the development of the Impact Jasper Comprehensive Plan.

It would be nice to have all the input available to read. Much of the feedback given for recent projects never seem to have been considered. The library stands out as the group that seemed to listened to most to the public feedback… Everyone in Jasper (or even the 2 mile radius people) should give their input, it is that important.
#1. Hey, the city needs to seek to lower the tax rate and back lowering the income tax rate .1%. 😉
