Pilot Steve Miller crashed his 1941 Luscombe F8 Wednesday morning.

Steve Miller, the pilot involved in Wednesday’s crash at Huntingburg Airport, issued a thank you to all the emergency personnel that responded to the crash.

Airport Manager Travis McQueen spoke with Miller by phone late Wednesday evening after he was released from the hospital. “Steve was very appreciative for the quick response by the first responders making their way to the Huntingburg Airport in response to his aircraft incident,” he said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Adminstration. They arrived Wednesday afternoon to gather specifics about the incident.

The FAA conducted their investigation, gathering information and expected to turn over their report to the National Traffic Safety Board who will issue a initial written report in 7- 10 business days. Report will be available here: http://www.ntsb.gov/_layouts/ntsb.aviation/Month.aspx or http://www.ntsb.gov/_layouts/ntsb.aviation/index.aspx

“Yesterday proved that we have excellent first responders on the front line who are our neighbors and family members. Without their efforts and time, life and property would not be saved” McQueen stated. “We need to recognize those guys, making Dubois County a great place to work and live.”

Huntingburg Police Department, Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department, Indiana State Police, Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, Memorial Hospital EMS and the many volunteers whom make up the front lines of our fire departments responded to the crash.
