Impatient motorists put children at risk with church shortcut
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department is warning motorists against using the Shiloh United Methodist Church parking lot in Jasper as a shortcut.
According to authorities, the church located at 1971 W. State Road 56 operates a preschool. Vehicles attempting to avoid traffic at the State Road 56 and County Road 350W intersection are using the parking lot as a shortcut.
This is creating a large safety risk to children who are being dropped off at the preschool in the morning hours.
Members of the motoring public are being asked to not use the parking lot as a through route. The safety of the preschool’s children is of the utmost importance.
“Obviously, anyone traveling at an unsafe speed near children concerns deputies with the sheriff’s department,” Deputy Stuart Wilson explained. “Please use patience and care while on your morning commute in the area to keep everyone safe.”

Thanks for pointing out this shortcut
