I will move my practice if this agreement is approved by my city government
Our Utility recently published in its own newsletter: “If negotiations between TOC and the city go through, it is expected that the plant will become operational in December 2013.”
and
“We’ve found research that the emissions particulates will stay in the boiler.” (Bud Hauersperger, no research reference noted).
Yet Catasein stated in April (http://washtimesherald.com/statenews/x1540196696/Southern-Indiana-city-faces-opposition-to-biomass-plant/print) particulate emissions WILL be added to the air (increase 5-6%) and “Opponents should not be concerned about health impacts.”
The same newsletter refers us ONLY to the Catasein-owned website for “more in-depth information about the JCEC.”
If our USB (Utility Service Board) is acting on behalf of its citizens, why is Jay Catasein the ONLY source of information deemed necessary/pertinent/reliable?
When I asked a USB member about the health professionals ad, his comments were “just another constituency . . .not a red flag . . .red flags do not mean stop,” and that the “We. . . are opposed. . .” statement was “too vague.”
The following have over 650 years of experience at the doctorate level (I did not have time to research the amount of years the rest of our group has logged in their fields of healthcare): Drs Kreilein, Smith, Ruff, & Bies, Yvonne Rominger, Dr Salb, Tom & Francis Gootee, Kemker Sr, Fehrenbacher, Wohlberg, O’Connor, Dewitt, Lilly, Vaughn, Scipione, Hanekamp, Sellers, Lindborg (8/8 Memorial ER staff), Eby, Dr. Joe & Scotty Munning, Toby & Sheila Harmon, Dr. Vennekotter, Nick & Kristen Werne, Dean & Vicky Beckman,, Steve & Dana Hopf, Dr. SBeckman, Ehrhard, Englert, Hoffman, Luff, Monesmith, Troutman, Lusk, Riddle, Breckler, Hurst, Wilhelmus, & Johnson, Nurses Upton, Russell, Weaver, Schitter, Shelton, Helming, Bobu, D’Esposito, Rasche, Armstrong, & M&C Hopster, therapists Rottet, Fischer, Blessinger and Mr. Hicks.
What’s “vague” about OPPOSED? Why would our utility steer educated professionals (or anyone) to ONE source for information?
I encourage citizens to get involved and ATTEND the USB meeting June 20 7pm Jasper City Hall.
A draft agreement has been reached and our mayor expects final results by July.
With the support of my husband, Michael, I will move my practice if this agreement is approved by my city government.
Norma Kreilein MD, FAAP Fellow, American Academy of Pediatrics Diplomate, American Board of Pediatrics Jasper Pediatrics of Memorial Hospital.
Thank you for making a stand, Dr. Kreilein and all the area health professionals! I had really hoped that with vital, well-respected community members like yourselves taking such a strong stance against this proposal, the city board would finally listen and reconsider. The fact that they have seen fit to do neither and continue to feed misinformation to the people of this county seems criminal. This looks like nothing more than another shady political deal to make some money while the people pay for it with their health and their children's health. If this deal goes through, I would load up my moving truck too if I could afford it. I do hope the people of Jasper wake up before it is too late!
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Since YOUR city government has approved this agreement, (and it has been approved). When do you plan to move?
