Huntingburg police seek rape suspect; he turns himself in

Sunday evening, a Huntingburg man turned himself in after learning he was being sought in a rape investigation.
According to the Huntingburg Police Department, at 9:50 p.m. a 20-year-old woman came to the police station to report a rape that took place on Thursday night. She identified 21-year-old Jeffery E. Taves as the suspect and police began to search locations he may have been living at.
Meanwhile friends contacted Taves and told him the police were looking for him. Taves reported to the Huntingburg Police Station voluntarily. He admitted he had sexual contact with the victim and requested an attorney.
Police charged Taves with Rape (Class B felony) and lodged him in the Dubois County Security Center.

My opinion if this happened Thursday night why wait till Sunday to turn it in. This is wrong if it did take place but also wrong if it Really didn't but yet was called. I hope they get to the bottom of this
Sara, it doesn't say anywhere in this article that she reported it Sunday. Knowing her personally, as do you, it was Friday when she went to the police and he finally turned himself in on Sunday. I wouldn't put this past him, you know him. It's really not surprising. He thinks he is God's gift to women. Not trying to be slanderous.
one if you read the Jasper Herald you would know the whole story and get details…how do u even know the guy
