Huntingburg McDonald’s construction could start in 2021

Construction on the McDonald’s Restaurant in Huntingburg is expected to begin in 2021.

The new restaurant will be located on the southwest corner of U.S. 231 and State Road 64 across from CVS. According to the property owner, the company began leasing the property this year and expects to break ground early next year.

The company filed for building permits for the new location in 2018.

The story originally stated they were seeking a franchisee for the new location but according to a McDonald’s spokesperson, this was incorrect. The story and headline have been changed to reflect that information.

  1. Extremely bad spot to put a restuarant ! Going to make the intersection even more dangerous than it already is now !

  2. There is all kinds of places to put a restraunt! But you choose the busiest and most importantly dangerous corner of town! And Train traffic to boot! Foolish idea!

  3. Thought the franchisee was to be the same as the other, or one of the other, DC locations – in Jasper and/or Ferdinand. If not, understand it takes a heap of $$$ to qualify – or used to – last I heard many years ago it was a quarter mil – likely closer to 1 mil or maybe even 2 mil by now. As for the “dangerous intersection,” had never heard it labeled that way before, at least not officially nor any more/worse than any other. It could certainly be improved by better signaling and striping of thru-lanes, from 1 to 2. Still, been a vacant eyesore long enough, and anything of a business development there would add to various traffic issues, so what does it matter? The Hucks and CVS had and have similar issues, and in time people adjusted/acclimated, so expect the same.

  4. I’m excited we need more restaurant’s around here. I just hope it’s one with a play area for the kids. So people don’t have to drive all the way to jasper or for those who don’t have a car. So those without a car can just walk with there kid’s. I also think it will help with the businesses to. But on a ending note I have been waiting a long time and I’m very happy. Thank you tisa
