Huntingburg limb pick-up

Due to recent storms in the area, the City of Huntingburg’s Street Department will conduct city-wide tree limb pick up Monday through Friday this week.

Residents must call City Hall at 812-683-2211 and give their address to the receptionist.

Tree limbs should be collected and placed horizontally near the curb in order for the equipment to reach them; they do not need to be bundled.

  1. Geez – leave it to the city. I know you only publish what you receive, but for the city’s edification the word horizontal, or “horizontally”, simply means flat – laying down – as opposed to vertical, meaning upright, or standing up. Could be in any N-S-E-W direction and still be horizontal. Rather, the word “parallel” – as parallel to or with the curb – denotes being in the same direction as, in this case, the curb. Put limbs near and parallel to the curb – laying in the same direction, along the curb, etc. It’s a given that they’ll be laying down or horizontal (have you ever seen cut or broken limbs in a vertical or standing-up position?). Again, “…placed parallel near the curb…” NOT perpendicular – at a right angle – to the curb (like I used to do).
