But what about Hunter Biden? Why haven’t you guys done a story about Hunter Biden’s Laptop?
I would post an opinion to this opinion page, but the blatant bias of http://www.duboiscountyfreepress.com will block anything contrary to their political leanings. Biased journalism leads to misleading facts. Then people get hurt. One day, you will be held accountable.
Actually, my experience/observation has been that if you keep it clean and free of anything blatantly or obviously distasteful, insulting and/or disrespectful as to gender, race, swearing, et al, you’ll be OK – so opine away.
Nope, I just tried to post something about Hunter Biden and they didn’t post it.
We didn’t see your comment earlier.
I concur. This article is about Dubois County COVID cases, not Hunter Biden – maybe this is why Hunter Biden comments are inappropriate here?
Speaking of which, since the Hunter Biden story is national, not Dubois County related, this is likely why you won’t find this covered here.
So we should care about American lives over Hunter Biden…
Good point.
You might want to tell fox news that.
56 on a Wednesday! That should alarm people. But it’s not. Football goes on:
10/30 @ 7:30 Southridge v. Gibson Southern
If you go to that game, you and I probably won’t get along.
We have had 140 cases just in the span of a few days and have the highest positivity rate in the entire state at 32.7%. Why aren’t we hearing where these cases are coming from? This can’t all be the result of small family gatherings. We’re hearing nothing from the schools, nothing from the nursing homes, nothing from local manufacturing plants, or churches or correctional facilities or any other places where there is an increased risk for exposure and spread. Memorial Hospital has been strangely silent on the subject, other than a general update on their website that was posted over a month ago. Can’t remember the last time the mayor talked publicly about the pandemic. Are we still “all in this together”?
Our leaders all want us out there shopping and eating at restaurants and going to work and to school and to various events, but don’t bother to tell us where the hot spots in our community are. The message seems to be: “Good luck out there. Try not to get sick or die.”
Gee, thanks.
The county has given up because their leader trump has given up. A long time ago Kleinhelter said he wasn’t even going to try to enforce masks. I get that the police can’t make everyone wear a mask. but by saying they can’t do it, that’s a wink for idiots to not wear masks. congratulations Sheriff!
Not to worry – the mainstream networks, like a Joe Biden broken record, more than compensate for any under-reporting on “American lives” by Fox news that you believe exists – unlike the complete blackout/NO coverage of the Hunter Biden story by the fake news that DOES exist. The long-standing integrity and mantra of the press is, or was, to report the news and inform the people – not censor/hide it for political advantage. Say what you want about about Fox, and while they’re not at all perfect, they’re far and away more fair, accurate and indeed balanced than anything of all the other major news networks – combined – as their blow-out ratings time-and-again attest to. And that should give you an idea of how really BAD and corrupt the others truly are.
County death rate is 0.017%. Most of us are better off getting this bad cold and getting it over with. Protect the most vulnerable from it and obtain mass immunity. I agree, the news should report more details about where the hot spots are to help us avoid them in order to help protect the most vulnerable. It’s really no help only reporting number. Seems more like fear monger int to me. Obviously, there are major outbreak areas.
the major outbreak area is the United States. Does that help?
also it’s not anything like a cold. Stop with the ignorance.
Math correction: 26/1535=0.0169 which rounds to 1.7% (to get percentage you need to multiply by 100 because percentage is out of 100, that’s where you failed) so it is actually still more than 10 times more deadly than the average influenza. Don’t forget it that it is also more contageous than the flu. Hope that helps!
It’s not just the death rate we need to be concerned about. Have you heard about “long-haulers”? These are people of all ages, including those who had no prior pre-existing conditions, who are still experiencing symptoms many months later.
No one knows what the long-term effects could be. Scans of some of these long-haulers are already showing damage to the lungs, heart and brain. This will cause a problem not only for those infected, but their families, their livelihoods, the healthcare industry and society in general.
This is not fear mongering. Getting COVID-19 could mean a life long struggle. Not something I’d want anyone to suffer with.

The problem is there were too many people who didn’t take it seriously from the beginning.
There were too many people who refused to follow the Government mandated stay at home order.
There were too many people angry over the Government mandated face mask order, so they refused to wear them.
You cannot say the President has given up. It’s the American People who refused to stand and fight this together. Instead most everyone chose to do as they pleased.
The Bible says the love of money is the root of all evil 1 Tim. 6:10. I think Wayne, Jeff, and Allison’s comments speak to this.
Yall are crazy!
Everyone used to look up at the US as an example to go by. Now, we are a laughing stock. Why? Because we think we are better than everyone else. If we had shutdown like other countries at the beginning, we would be better off now. You have a leader who is all ME, ME! Every republican has to fall in line with daddy. That’s why we are in this mess.
Actually, the ignorance – manifested by/with fear, lack of both understanding and common sense – is yours. For the vast majority who have had it, a cold, bad cold or minor flu is exactly what it’s been (like), if even less so for many. The U.S. (pop), as ‘up there’ statistically, is one of the largest nations of any with this virus, but more central to the case-infection data, etc. is that we’re by far the most free and independent, mobile and social of all, making it harder if not the hardest of all to mitigate and arrest the virus spread. People are not robots, but esp in such a society as ours, and by and large they’re really not fearful, nor do they like being told what to do and/or how to do it, least of all by mandates. Yes, we all want to help/prevent the elderly and vulnerable categories most affected with severe consequences from contracting it, but frankly – hard as it is for some of you to grasp – that doesn’t merit going to such severe/extreme measures as the total paralysis of an entire nation such as ours via the shutdown/lockdown of our existence, our livelihoods, economy, security/safety and the residual mental/physical welfare of the vast majority. In short, while we all want to save lives to the extent possible, it’s not to ANY extent – of killing the fly by tearing down the house. And, most of the elderly and vulnerable who have/had it – yes, I believe even those departed if they could speak – would tell you the same thing because they’re from a much tougher, more practical and common-sensical generation.
I agree 100%
