Health Dept reports 24th COVID-19 case

Saturday, the Dubois County Health Department confirmed the 24th positive case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Dubois County.

“We are working closely with the Indiana State Department of Health and local officials to ensure that contacts of the patient are identified and monitored,” said the health department in a press release. “Anyone who may have an exposure risk, has been or is being notified about potential exposures so that appropriate infection control procedures can be followed. The patient is in isolation.”

The department reiterated the public can stop or slow the spread of this highly contagious virus by washing your hands often and covering your coughs. Stay home if you are sick and avoid contact with people who are sick. Maintain social distancing. Continue to wear a cloth face covering when out in public.

  1. “Maintain social distancing. Continue to wear a cloth face covering when out in public.”

Not going to happen. On Friday, the Governor announced a 5-phase plan to re-open Indiana and people automatically think this is a green light to throw caution and common sense to the wind. I saw countless people out and about today in my neighborhood, gathering in groups, socializing, not maintaining social distance and definitely not wearing masks.

The virus has not “magically” disappeared. We do not yet have vaccines. We are all still very much responsible for our own and each others’ safety and health right now. Lives literally depend on it. Let’s act like it.

  2. my daughter works at Rural King. A customer was in line to check out she wasnt wearing a face mask and talking about taking care of a covid patient of hers. My daughter was upset the people she was talking to were upset and shocked she wasnt concerned about spreading it.

  3. I don’t think there is much hope for the world regarding CoronaVirus. I hear Cheeto/Pence keep saying they “see light at the of the tunnel.” It will be interesting how long they will keep saying this. Most people are less patience than me and when they hear “light at the end of the tunnel” 1.5 years from now I think they will remember hearing that bull 1.5 years ago.

Also forget about the Strassenfest. But if they do have it, at least the beer garden will have plenty of room in it. Only the hard core trump people will dare to risk getting in that pen. Of course Dubois county is full of people that are very happy with trump’s work so maybe the beer garden will set records. I don’t care anymore. But catchphrases make it all better. “IN THIS TOGETHER” what a joke. we are doomed.

    1. I’ll be praying for you Jeff. We are not doomed – Jesus insured our lives, both on earth and in heaven!
